College realizations

Now that it’s time to start looking at college, I have realized how much I want to go to a college in California. It is also kinda stressing me out, even though I still have a long time till I have to start applying. It feels crazy how fast these last 3 years have gone by, and even though I’m excited to go to college, I’m still scared to get ready to move away to college. The only other places I would maybe want to apply to are Hawaii, but I don’t think I would ever go. However, this summer, my parents might take me to visit. The top colleges I want to attend are Pepperdine, UCSB, and UCSC. I really want to go somewhere near the beach, and I would never wanna go anywhere other than California because after living here my whole life, I don’t think I could leave and go somewhere else that’s colder or has no ocean.

Soccer college showcase

This weekend and my club and I played a college showcase in Oceanside, San Diego. It was a 3-day showcase with 4 teams in each bracket. My team and I just moved up a level, so now we are NPL, but we were still playing teams a division higher than us. We went the weekend undefeated, with a tie in the first game on Friday, a 3-1 win on Saturday, and a 4-0 win on Sunday. I played almost the entire game every game, with only being out for 5 minutes each day. My teammates and I didn’t just play soccer; we also went to the mall, and many of us got lunch and dinner together. My mom and I stayed in a hotel right next to the fields, so it was very easy to go from the field to the hotel without going out of our way. My team has a very good chance at winning the state cup this year, and we could also win in Vegas, where there will be so many college scouts.

Girls Soccer

The girls’ soccer season just started, but I was told that I’m not allowed to play in the first game because of my club team, which doesn’t make a lot of sense to me, because all of my club teammates are allowed to play scrimmages with their high school team, and I’m not. If this tournament weren’t such a big deal, I wouldn’t play in it, but this tournament will be the first time my team plays as NPL, and my team needs every player they can get this weekend. Hopefully, the OVS girls’ team will be ok without me, but they might not do so well. But it is their first game, and no matter who they have, it always tends to be bad. I also hope that Paloma comes back soon because I feel like people listen to her the most, and I have a hard time getting my teammates to listen to Mrs. Carver and me when we’re doing a drill.

APES

APES or AP Environmental Science is my hardest class. I think it’s exciting, but I don’t do good on the quizzes or the tests. Right now we a learning about the atmosphere, and I’m also very confused about what is going on in that class. We do a lot of labs, and usually I get a good grade, but my grade overall in the class is not very good. I’m trying to improve my grade by retaking quizzes, but I’m unsure if I’ll actually be able to raise my grade by doing so. Even if I retake my quiz, I don’t know if I’m going to be able to fix it. I also think the way that I do my homework is also a problem because I read what we are assigned and I answer the questions, but I’m still confused, and I think I need to take more notes.

Spring Soccer Season

The spring soccer season just ended, and my team got first place. We went undefeated throughout the entire season, scoring 53 goals and conceding only 9 goals in 10 games. Every one of my teammates tried their best, and they never gave up. We did have some bad games, but even when we did, we still never gave up, and we either came out with a win or with a tie. Now that my team won, we go up a level for next season, and we’re going to be NPL. NPL is a big deal, especially for a Ventura team. Now that the league is over, we go on to the College Cup in Las Vegas over Thanksgiving break. But after that college cup, our team stops practicing, and we all go play for our high school teams. This win means a lot to us and our coach, and I’m excited to see how my team does next season.

Barcelona game

About 2 summers ago, I went to a Barcelona FC game with my dad and my brother. That was arguably my favorite summer for many reasons, the first being, obviously, the Barca game, but also because I got to attend several LA Galaxy games. The LA Galaxy is my favorite MLS team, and the primary reason I watch them is because of Riqui Puig. Another reason why that was one of my favorite summers was that I got to go to Mexico with my cousins, who aren’t really my cousins anymore, but we still call each other cousins. But most importantly, I got to watch the Barca game, and even though they lost, it was still really cool to watch. Most of the players who start at Barcelona now were just bench players. It was really cool to watch the players whom I look up to. I also go to see some players who I look up to that are old, who have just recently retired.

Halloween

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, and every year my family has a party at my grandparents’ house where my parents invite a bunch of their friends and we all eat dinner, and then we go trick-or-treating. But this year I’m too old for trick or treating, and I don’t want to hang out with my parents’ friends and their kids, so I’m going to my friend’s house. I’m probably going to go over to her house and get ready and redo my makeup and do my hair and then take pictures, and hopefully I’ll get to stay the night at my friend’s house because we’re probably going to be out pretty late. For my costume, I’m going to be an FBI agent, and my friends are going to be a firefighter. I’m hoping that this year’s the best Halloween yet because every other year has been boring, and I’m excited to not just be trick-or-treating.

FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona has always been my favorite pro soccer team. The players who made me love FC Barcelona are Messi, Ronaldinho, and Neymar, but none of them play for Barcelona anymore. The players that keep me loving Barca are Yammal, Frankie de Jong, Pedri, Gavi, Lewandowski, Raphina, Cubarsi, Kounde, Balde, and Eric. I also really like the coach Hansi Flick, who has been making Barcelona one of the best teams in the world. I have 12 Barcelona jerseys and they’re all hanging up on my wall. I also have a Barcelona flag, hat, sweatshirt, and scarf. Barcelona makes the best players in the world. I got to go to one Barca game in 2023. It was so fun and cool, even though they lost. The game wasn’t very serious because it was a preseason game, but I still had a lot of fun, and it was so cool to see. Barcelona forever!!!

Stress

Stress for me comes from many things in my life. The main things are school, cross country, soccer, student council, and work. I don’t have a lot of time for homework since I have so much to do all week. On Mondays, I go to school, and then I go home for an hour and get ready to leave for soccer, and then when I go to soccer, I usually get home around 7-ish. On Tuesdays, I go to school, then cross country, and then I go home for an hour and go straight to work, and then I get home at 9:50, and I don’t have time to do a lot of my homework because I get so tired. Then on Wednesday, I have the same schedule as Monday, and then Thursday I have a very similar schedule to Tuesday, but I don’t always have work, and then on Friday I have the same schedule as Tuesday, but I don’t always have cross country, and sometimes I have soccer stuff.

Work Days

Three times a week I go to work. Usually, I work closing shifts with someone else, but they are changing it to closing shifts alone. This weekend I worked twice. The first time was on Friday, and I got to work with one of my best friends. For the first three hours of my shift, all I did was serve customers and restock cups, spoons, and ice cream. Once it gets to the last hour, we start closing and cleaning the windows, the lids, and the counters. Once everything was clean, I started to sweep the floors while my friend put the lids on the ice cream, and after I was done sweeping, I did the register and waited for my friend to finish mopping, and then we took out the trash and locked up. Almost every time I work, we do the same things, and usually on the weekends, we make way more money than on the weekdays.
