2nd soccer game

We had our second soccer game yesterday and we have another one today. Yesterday we played Foothill and today we are playing Beacon Hill. Foothill has like basically all club girls on it and we only lost 0-5 this time. And apparently, the last time Nordoff played them they lost like 12-0 or something so we’re making progress since our previous game which was 0-9. The team we are playing today should be an easier game but we are all pretty tired from yesterday’s game and we haven’t had any actual practice this week. there was one practice on Sunday but it was optional and I didn’t have a ride so I didn’t go. I have hope that we can score at least one goal today. I think if we use the same or at least a similar strategy as last game, where we start with a really good defense and just keep them off our side of the field maybe we can score. Anyway, wish us luck on our game hopefully we at least get a 0-0 tie.

our first soccer game

My team has our first soccer game today, against Nordoff varsity. I think most of their varsity from last year graduated, so hopefully, we won’t get absolutely obliterated. I’m trying to keep an open mind, but I just don’t think we’re very united as a team yet. I’ll update you after the game…

Ok, so we had the game yesterday. I started in center back. Things did not go so well, we ended up losing I think 0-9. After half-time, the team did feel more unified though. Ava and Akyra were moved to the defense to protect the goal I was a striker and Delaney was center mid. We worked together pretty well and got a few shots on their goal. Unfortunately, none of them made it in. The team just needs to figure out how we work together. It always sucks losing but since it was our first game and it was agist Nordoff varsity I’m not surprised which takes the edge off of the loss a little bit. Hopefully, we will win at least one of our three games next week.

school and soccer

Okay so I think I was right about soccer, riding and school being too much. I have been feeling so run down lately and I literally have no time to do anything. I also just sprained my ankle at soccer so now I might not be able to ride or do soccer but I’m pretty sure I still have to go to practices and just sit there. Hopefully that will make it easier for me to catch up on school. It is so weird because for the first month of school I felt like I had no work to do and now it feels like it just doesn’t stop. But if I don’t practice then I won’t be playing in our games next week and seriously hate just sitting and watching my team lose and not being able to help. I also have  a feeling we’re going to get a lot of fouls because I don’t think most of the tema know how to do a throw-in or what offsides is. I’m praying we don’t get obliterated by nordoff.

homework

I honestly don’t mind homework that much. I usually don’t make much of a point to do it either. It usually all just falls into place, but sometimes it ends up not working out which has already happened this year. I seriously despise breakfast club. It is so awful. Like I get it if you have a bunch of missing stuff or if you’re just not turning stuff in but if you get it in by the end of the week I don’t think you should have to go. This happened to me at the beginning of the year and I literally just watched tv the whole time. It really sucked for my mom too because she had weekend duty as well so she had to drive me up there at like 8 then drive me back at 9, then turn around and go back up. I’m so happy she didn’t make me stay. People complain about OVS a lot but I actually do think the way the classes are scheduled is helpful. I usually don’t have any homework once I get home because I’m able to just get it all done during the day. It’s definitely better than lower but I liked the schedule better last year.

first comp

This weekend is my first riding competition of the season. I’ve moved up a level since last season and I am a little nervous. I’ve only actually done my whole dressage test like .75 times because I never got to finish it since Cara started getting spooky at the end. I think i have it memorized but to be honest i’m not totally sure that the test I have memorized is the actual test… Okay update while writing this I decided to look at the test and I do have it correctly memorized. But I don’t have much time to practice because I’m only officially scheduled to ride twice this week but I think I’m going to be able to get some extra time in. i really like the new trainer Katrine, she’s pretty easy to schedule with and gives very in depth instructions. The only hard thing is that her and the old trainer George have some different teaching styles so sometimes one will ask you to do something while the other asks for the complete opposite. it can get confusing sometimes. Well that’s all, wish me luck!

soccer

I’ve been thinking about starting soccer. I played pretty much my whole life and I miss it. The whole reason I quit gymnastics is because I didn’t think I would have time or energy to do two sports. Especially after school games and leaving class early for games I’m a little worried I wont be able to keep up. Don’t get me wrong I love soccer and I love riding but I think it will also feel like i’m not a whole part of the team either because I will have to miss some practices and maybe even games for riding because that will be my priority. I think I’m still going to do it anyways though because cross training has always helped me in riding and gymnastics. I also heard that we have 3 games our second week of practice which sucks because I won’t even be there for our first week of practice which is this week. So I might die but wish me luck.

ranting about school rules and music

I love listening to music. It helps me focus and get things done. Whenever I need to lock in on cleaning my room, the house, my homework, or when I’m just trying to relax. I always play music. I hate this new rule at school that makes it so we’re just not allowed to listen to music. We can’t use headphones, so how are we supposed to listen to music unless we play it out loud, but if we play it out loud then we’re distracting others and most songs have swear words in them. I get why we aren’t allowed to play explicit music out loud but I’m not trying to listen to some kidz bop remix of my favorite song, so that basically means we can’t play any music out loud. Also, not everyone in a class is going to want to listen to the same music so people would get in arguments about it and make it so no one can listen to music at all. Thanks for listening to my rant have a good day.

school mornings

I usually set my alarm for 6:35 and 7:00. I stop the first one and wake up at the second one; but this morning I had to ride in my first block so I set my alarm for 6 am. I still snoozed it once but after I was up and awake it was kind of nice. I had extra time to get ready and watch tv while I did my makeup. And I even had like ten minutes to just sit in bed, and I still left by 7:30. I have never been a morning person but I feel like I might want to start waking up earlier so I don’t feel rushed in the mornings. For me if I have a bad morning or I’m late it kinda ruins my whole day. I just feel so much calmer when I get to school early. And then I can hang out with my friends and go on my phone before school starts, and even sometimes get breakfast. Or if I leave early I can get starbucks, or coffee connection.

riding

I have been riding since I was basically 2 years old. My first show was with OVS around 4th grade, I’m guessing. It was at Canada Larga on Jackie. She bucked me off like 2 times before it was my turn. I went into the ring nervous I would forget my course, and I almost did. In the end I completed it successfully. After the next few people took their turns the results were decided… I scoured 4th. I of course would have prefered a higher score but I was still pretty happy with that. Last year I went to Nationals for IEA in North Carolina. I flew all the way there for one ride. I placed 4th. I was very happy with that because I never even thought I would make it to regionals. When I was riding at regionals in Oregon I wasn’t even nervous because I never thought I would make it, which I think is why I ended up qualifying. Riding has been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember and I’m so grateful I’ve gotten the opportunity to do this.

Journalism

Obviously I am in Journalism. I joined because I like the teacher and I thought it would be a fun class where I had a lot of control over what I do. After the first day I thought this is going to be so easy. And so far it has been pretty calm but it is easy to forget due dates and blog posts because there no teacher yelling at you about assignments and things like that… well sometimes there is but most of the time you have to be on top of yourself. Clearly I’m not. I came into to journalism thinking all I really needed to do is Interview Mr. Kuelling and start on my story, then with 30 minutes left in class I realized I have a blog post to do. Overall I’m happy in Journalism and I think it’ going to be a fun but challenging class.
