Three things I am grateful for

I just wrote a blog talking about how I’m going to be in significant debt after college, so I feel like writing about things that I am grateful for.

  1. The cake I just ate. It was not very sweet, but it had a little bit of cream on it which was yummy.
  2. Tea. I am drinking a tea that I don’t really know the name of, but my mom told me it is called mei cha. It is very bitter, but once you drink the tea, you taste sweetness in your mouth. It is very interesting and I love it. My mom and I are drinking tea while she reads Dune and I type blogs for journalism.
  3. My mom. She was very excited when she got her Dune books in the mail today. She has been reading the first book on her phone as a pdf, so she was excited to get the physical copy finally. After we watched the Dune 2 movie in theatres, she came home and bought the entirety of the Dune series, which is like at least 8 books. She likes to read the ending of a book before reading it, and she probably read the entire plot of the books on wikipedia before she even bought them.

How my break was

It has already been six weeks since the end of Christmas break. This year, I have been busy with many things and time seems to be passing faster than usual. This makes me feel that I need to plan things more systematically. I spent this winter vacation with my friend in LA. We made strawberry cheesecake for her father’s birthday celebration. The cake has two layers: a jelly and a cheesecake made with strawberry fruit and lemon juice. It was hard to get the strawberries to float when I laid them on top and poured the juice over them. However, after an hour of struggle, we managed to complete the cake. We were very happy that her father was so pleased. We had a great time with them by treating them to Japanese food. Then we went to see a university during the vacation. I was surprised at the scale of the place, which I usually only see in pictures, when I actually walked around. The school building was very big and it motivated me for future applications. I am looking forward to seeing what kind of path I will choose and which university I will go to next year, and at the same time I am filled with anxiety. After visiting the university, we went to Korea Town to eat our long-sought-after Ganjanggaejang. I was very happy because it was the thing I was looking forward to the most during this vacation. I am now less than a hundred days away from the end of this school year, so I want to spend my time in a meaningful way. I am looking forward to what I will do on my next vacation.

Cake Pops

Today I discovered confectionary perfection.

Mother of god.  Can I just say that cake pops are quite possibly the best thing that ever happened to dessert?

It’s cake.

On a stick.

And it’s all rolled up in that yummy hard frosting, festooned with candy bits.

So I bought some funfetti cake pop mix from Vons and made some cake pops with my sisters.

They’re really easy to make, there’s just a fair amount of time in between steps.

There’s the mixing time.Read More »

A Gift From God.

Angel Food Cake

There’s always some sort of delicious food staring at you as you check out your groceries. Today as I checked out my healthy dinnertime ingredients this one item was angel food cake.

With a deal price of $1.99, how could I possibly resist? After all God or maybe an angels placed it there for a reason.

The purpose being that I could taste or sample a piece of heaven and that is an extremely appropriate word to describe angel food cake. Heavenly.

the I don’t know if the angels used their floaty, soft wings to beat the batter or if God created some kind of miracle, but as I chomped down on the first bite my mouth hit air. I could only describe it as how I would imagine the texture of clouds. It was light, airy, but unlike clouds we see in the sky, sweet and vanillary.

I tried angel food cake and I liked it. By taking one simple step I experienced something great, a gift from God.  So take a gamble in life and be tempted because you never know you may experience something out of this world.
