A Tragic Story of Prom and Permits: Part 2

Bethany jumped out of her car, tripping on her prom dress, and ran along the road right next to the riverbed towards the fallen deer. The deer didn’t make it. Bethany fell to her knees, and started to cry. Her wailing disabled her from hearing the foot steps behind her. But, she did feel the baseball bat against her skull.

The assailant happened to be a drunk, peace-loving hippie who thought she killed the deer, and wanted to stop her. When the hippie realized Bethany was trying to save the deer, he panicked and threw Bethany and the deer into the empty, rocky riverbed next to the road to cover up his mistake.

While Bethany was unconscious lying in the empty river bed, Ben was waiting for Bethany at the prom site. He assumed he stood her up, even though they weren’t going together.

Bethany woke up hours later, confused. Her car was gone. She called Ben, as she knew he would always answer. He didn’t this time. And they never talked again.

Bethany Yoddle, a highschool junior, just got her license right in time for prom. Bethany is an aspiring model/actress/tv show cooking competition judge/daytime talkshow host/reality tv show star. Bethany isn’t going to prom with anyone, but she just assumes they can’t handle her charismatic, multi-talented persona. But, little does she know, her best friend since 4th grade, Ben, is in love with her. Bethany and Ben have gone from swing sets to driving licenses, now they are 16 and she still has no idea.

7 pm hits, and Bethany climbs into her car to make her way to prom. Bethany’s drive to the prom site is a long one, as it’s outside of the city, but luckily she has all her favorite music to listen to on her way there.

Bethany hits the more rural part of her drive, and unfortunately, a deer ran across the road right as Bethany was singing loudly ( and ear-bleedingly bad) to her favorite song. Bethany saw the deer and she slammed the brakes, but just a second too late, and her front bumper collided with the deer.

The Teen That Survived 3 Terrorist Attacks Scatter Across the Globe

Unfortunately, terrorism is not new and it is not uncommon. But, it is stomach-churningly awful. To hear about a terrorism attack on the news, if it is 5 or 5,000 miles away, makes one’s stomach drop. But to actually experience the attack, to feel, see, and hear it all happen is unconceivable. Marson Wells, a 19 year old boy had to feel, see, and hear 3 terrorist attacks. He was present at the Boston Bombings, the Paris Attack, and, very recently, the terrorist attack in a Brussels Airport. There’s a dichotomy here. Marson Wells is unlucky enough to have been in the wrong spot at the wrong time on 3 separate occasions. Yet, he is  lucky enough to survive each one. Unfortunately, there are thousands and thousands more people who have been just as unlucky as Wells. These recent and ongoing terrorist attacks are terrible and unimaginable, yet they could happen to anyone, anywhere, any day. That’s terrifying. 

I Like Writing About Fashion: Get Over It

Obviously the majority of the blog posts I write are centered around the Fashion Industry. To me, this blog and the posts I write are for creative expression, and what is creatively stimulating to me happens to be fashion. I could write about the things that I don’t have much of an opinion on or don’t want to waste my time on (looking at you, Trump), but I choose to write about things that will release creativity or emotion. I’m not here to write about stuff that bores me. I have other interests of course, but fashion is the most powerful one. And the great thing about fashion is, there are so many different topics within that wild industry there is always more inspiration for me. Fashion is about personal expression, and so is this blog. I combined the two, and that is how I enjoy it. Everybody should enjoy it.

 

 

Fashion Week Favorites

In the middle of February Anna Wintour, Chiara Ferragni, Andrè Leon Talley, Karlie Kloss, and truckloads more of fashion icons gathered in New York City to kick off Fashion Week Fall 2016. A week later, the photographers, models, jounalists, paparazzi, street style stars, and celebrities went across the pond to London, then to Milan, and ended with a bang in Paris. A whole month of tulle, camera flashes, ubers, designer invitations, and upcoming trends had passed. Here are my favorites:

Valentino

This season Valentino offered a ballerina inspired collection with blush tulle, ribbon detailing, and ballerina flats. Gorgeous.

Giambattista Valli

The mix of textures, colors, and craftsmanship shined in this show.

Khaki, fur, and a bit of utilitarian were the main exhibit in this show accompanied by feminine accessories.

The Vanderbilt Mansion

This gorgeous mansion, along with seventeen other private mansions, was located in New York City on Fifth Avenue, AKA Millionaire’s Row. Unfortunately, this amazing property has since been demolished. Unfortunately (again), there are so many mansions are Millionaire’s Row I will only include three in this post.

The Felix M. Warburg Mansion

This huge mansion was built in 1901 by none other than Felix M. Warburg. It ran for $44 million in 2010 when Carlos Slim, one of the richest people in the world, bought it. The details of this mansion are outrageous. The mansions is 20,000 square feet compared to the average 750 square foot apartment. This castle mansion also boasts five stores, 12 bedrooms, 14 bathrooms, and almost as many fireplaces.

Astor Family Mansion

Grander than grand, John Jacob Astor received the land for this mansion as a wedding gift. The usual. While the outside may look inconspicuous, the inside is anything but. And yes, it does include a ball room.

Fashion Week is Coming

Fashion Week is coming. Some may regard it as the best time of the year (I know I do). Luckily, the best time of the year actually comes two times a year, in fall and in spring.

When Fashion Week kicks off February 10th the clothes, models, designers, and fashion icons take over the streets of New York City.

They then move on to London, then Milan, with a grand finale in Paris. This beautiful madness lasts a month before the fashion editors race to choose their favorite looks, and decide which pieces will grace the covers of Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, and more.

Fashion Week is also the habitat for new trends to form, new street style stars to be launched into the fashion-fame-stratosphere, and for new models to dominate catwalk, billboards, and magazines alike.

While this flurry of fashion may only last a month, it decides everything in fashion, until the next fashion week at least. Yes, it is the greatest time of year. 

The Magic of: Paris

I have always loved Paris, and though I’ve been to Paris, I probably would still love it even if I had never been there before.

I love the culture, the food, the fashion and style. Not to mention the architecture, the people (I for one, do not think they’re rude), croissants, macaroons, did I mention the food?

The list could go on and on. To me, it’s one of the most inspiring cities. The fashion, the weather, and the seasons (they actually have 4, unlike California) are all endlessly inspiring and constantly facilitating creativity.

So many influential people and ideas are from this city. But one of the things I love the most is that even after all the darkness that has happened there, Paris is still of the brightest cities in the world. Paris is the City of Love and Light, and that will never change.

Bucket List: Travel

I love traveling, experiencing new cultures, and sightseeing. So, of course, I have a Pinterest board filled with places I want to go, and things I want to see (and, of course, food I want to try). Without further ado, here are the five most amazing places I want to visit before I die.

Bali

Bali was introduced into my Pinterest board after I read Eat, Pray, Love. And I fell in love with Bali through Elizabeth Gilbert’s recounting of it.

Prague

The dark, gothic architecture set against the bright golden street lights during the evening and night are enough to make me want to go there. But they also have amazing libraries, food, and other attractions.

The Orient Express

Technically, this isn’t a destination I want to go to, but a vessel that will take me to an amazing destination. The Orient Express is so reminiscent of old glamour and it’s gorgeous.

The French Alps

This place could come straight out of a Christmas movie it’s that amazing looking. The snow-covered trees, the lodges, and mountains all seem so perfect, almost artificial. But the best part is, it’s not.

Vienna

Vienna is absolutely gorgeous. The food looks amazing, the buildings are beautiful, and (usually) what’s inside the buildings are even better.

I’m going to say it, Anna Wintour is queen (in my opinion). Some find her intimidating, and have coined her the “ice queen.” But I disagree, she is the god of Vogue and Anna’s opinion matters in the fashion industry. Needless to say, she is my idol. So I have rounded up the best GIFs of Anna to show the progression of students gearing up for finals week (you have no idea how much I wish it was Fashion Week instead).
