Scary Scary Time!

halloween

Halloween is coming up and man am I ready to scare some people! Halloween to me is the most fun day because you get a chance to dress up as something you’re not and go get candy from all the houses around your block. That is unless you go to a boarding school haha.

BUT being at a boarding school is not that bad. On Halloween I will make sure to have a lot of fun scaring people out of their minds. Plus we have a nice Halloween dance, and a best costume contest, which I never win.

This year will be fun though, we have a lot of people who share my passion with scaring people and that is what makes Halloween fun. Scaring people.

Get ready OVS cause I’m going to scare you all!

Banned Books Week topic in World History

                                                         BBW
This past week we talked about National Banned Books Week. In my opinion, banning books is wrong. Why wrong you might ask? Wrong because by banning a book we are hiding and keeping information from the people. Wrong, because in most cases the content of a book is merely a reflection of a real life issue or occurrence.

A book touching on the topics of homosexuality or racial differences is not a valid reason to ban a book. A book about the old south that has the “N” word in it is not a fair reason to ban a book, especially because the “N” word is being used to provide the reader a feel for how things were in the south way back when.

Books shouldn’t be banned because there is a bigger possibility that the people reading a book about a war will be shocked and learn that war isn’t the answer, than for those people to think that they should go out an mass murder a crowd of people due to their influence from that book.

If people are this afraid of what a books content will do to the minds of those who read them, then I wish you luck with real life problems because you are clearly unaware of what sort of things life brings to the table.

If a book can change every bodies mind of what a government is doing and lead the people to revolt and demand a change, then the government was definitely doing something wrong.

Books are powerful tools for understanding and for expression, but most of all books are a way to describe a situation or a period of time in the highest about of detail possible. even if it means there is foul language, racial differences or sexual implication portrayed in the novel.

Nutella Vs. Peanut butter

nutella vs PB

I like peanut butter but I LOVE Nutella. I’ve always been a fan of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches; they are good and you can never go wrong with a PB&J. Unless you’re allergic to peanuts, yikes. But see, Nutella is delicious, sure there is some things much like peanut butter that could be harmful to some but it’s just so good that even those who don’t like it actually really do.

Its taste is AMAZING, and there is so many tasty ways to eat it.

Nutella with bread, Nutella crepes, Nutella croissants, Nutella with strawberries, Nutella with bananas and MANY MORE!!!!

I really want to know what everyone’s thoughts are on this subject, even if you feel it’s a stupid one

I think Nutella wins, what do you think?

MTV or SH*T TV?

MTV

MTV stands for Music Television, or should I say stood for that. This tv channel which at once point used to be music videos all day every day has become the main channel for stupid “reality” tv shows. Teen Mom 2, 16 and pregnant, Jersey Shore, and many others are all examples of what shouldn’t be on MTV, some of them shouldn’t even be shows, Teen mom and 16 and pregnant. Others though like Jersey Shore I don’t mind, but I still believe they should be shown on a different channel.

I wonder why there is a need to have bad TV shows on a channel that was designed for the viewers to watch music videos and music related things. It really bothers me. I hate that the only time to watch music videos is from about 3 am to about 5 am, when most people are sleeping.

I know that times are changing and things will never be the same, but the least we could do is use this channel which was designed specifically for music for that exactly, and put all the musically unrelated TV shows on a separate channel.

Realistic Games

More and more we are being exposed to the visual creations that at times thousands of people work on to create video games such as Call Of Duty Black Ops, Fifa Soccer 11, God Of War III, and Dirt 3. Those four games I mentioned are the ones I strongly believe possess the greatest graphics and are the most realistic. I have played them all, I have passed them all, I have liked them all.

These games take a player into the world they are trying to depict. The gamer feels like he/she is a part of that world, like he/she is the driver of that race car, even like he/she is a soccer player playing with a team like Manchester United (which is a truly great team btw).

Graphics are a feature which gamers seek when purchasing a game. Great graphics equal a great gaming experience, for example in Call Of Duty Black Ops,

COD B.O.
The clarity in this image is lifelike, it makes you want to see more of the creators work. It is truly amazing what these game makers can create.

I never thought that characters in games would look as realistic as a real person, but damn does it amaze me.

A Sport I Would Love To Play

After spending a couple of hours watching YouTube videos of NCAA mens volleyball I realized that I am missing out on a sport I would truly love to play at a competitive level. Women’s NCAA volleyball is awesome to watch. The girls playing are really strong and able to hit at fast speeds and keep a game exciting and competitive. Mens NCAA volleyball on the other hand is unbelievable. Everything they do during the game is led by skill and composed of power and precision.

Mens volleyball nets stand at 7 feet 11 and a half inches tall, being 7 inches taller than women’s volleyball nets, that being because the best professional male volleyball players can jump and be waist-high on their net which would basically be up to their knees on a women’s net.

This sport is beyond intense. I learned that a volleyball can be spiked at speeds up to 70 MPH. Attempting to bump that ball back into the air after having it spiked down at those speeds is incredibly hard.

Leonel Marshall, a Cuban volleyball player who is ranked number 7 in the Vertical jump World Records who during a volleyball match versus Brazil had a vertical jump for a spike of 50 inches.

WOW.

I would love it if OVS would allow us to have a men’s volleyball team.

The Ride from Hell

Tonight I experienced the ride from hell. After having a wonderful weekend with my mom, my sister, and my friend Joanna it eventually became time for us to part ways. When we were picked up by the Executive town car service at the Sheraton Universal Hotel in Los Angeles CA, that is when hell came raining down. Town cars are supposed to be comfortable, relaxing, and contain fresh air, but instead we got uncomfortable, nerve-racking, and the smell had Joanna and I on the verge of gagging.

From home to school, the transition

Going from a beautiful place like Cabo San Lucas, which has beaches that stay in the 80’s Farenheit, to a weather bipolar place like Ojai Valley, California, is not an easy change to go through . My home is a paradise, and the people and food there are fantastic. OVS is a great school and there is no doubt in my mind that this school has helped me grow in many different ways while I’ve been here. The truth is that as much as I try to convince myself to make this like a second home for me, I can’t, because a home is where your family is.
