Teenager…….

I was recently able to obtain my driver’s license, which will allow me to go driving with my family and friends when I return to my home country. I was also thinking about what I want to accomplish until I reach the age of 20, which is a major milestone for my home country. 20 is the age in Japan where people can drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes, and buy and give away tickets for bicycle, horse, boat, and auto races, to name a few. In my home country, the age of adulthood has been lowered from 20 to 18 since April 1, 2022. 18 is the age when you can do many things and take the first step toward adulthood. To be honest, nothing much has changed since I turned 18, but it is scary to know that I am already seen as an adult in the eyes of the world. Back on topic, what I want to do before I turn 20 is to go driving alone, take a trip to Korea, and score under 100 in golf. I’m not sure if there is any particular change I would like to make, but I will try to make the most of my last teenage years so that I don’t have any regrets.

A year left for my high school life…..

Every Friday I spend all day thinking about what to write on my blog, but I don’t really know what to write about. I don’t know what else to write about once I have written about what I like to do. Recently I have been talking with my roommate about what I want to do before I graduate from high school, and one of the things I want to do in the next year is to go on a trip to Thailand. She and I went on a trip to Japan together last year, and it made me realize that it’s not about where you go, but who you go with. What I especially want to do in Thailand is to eat delicious food. We have been really into Thai food for a while and would like to try some of the local flavors. We also want to go see animals and take a vacation. Besides going to Thailand, there are many other things I want to do before I graduate, such as going to sports games, going to concerts, and playing top golf. I have about one year left in my high school career. I want to enjoy to the fullest the things I can only do while I am still in high school.

Setting Out Goals For Yourself, and keeping them.

Tonight I watched a video report on a soldier named Daniel Rodriguez who is a decorated hero from the United States Military. The reason this video was so attention grabbing was not because he was in the military, but because of the ability for him to make a promise to himself and do what so many people can’t do, keep it.

He and a friend of his made promises to themselves as well as to each other that once they were out of the military they would chase after their dreams and do anything that had to be done to achieve them.

A sad turn of events occurred and Daniel’s friend was killed while being ambushed by enemy forces on active duty. A lot of the time a loss like this can affect people and their ability to push through, but Daniel refused to let his dreams and talent as a football player go to waste.

When Daniel got out of the military he immediately went into training to become a football player.

This is a very mature and beautiful thing to see in life, especially because it isn’t something you see too often. I wish to be as dedicated and as committed to achieving my dreams. Daniel is now an inspiration to me that will hopefully drive me towards what I seek in my life.

Fantastic.

A Furry Surprise

10:28 AM: Monday, November 7, 2011.

A text message from my mother:

“There is a big surprise waiting 4 u. Hint: it’s furry, so sweet, and endearing…Can you get what it is?”

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m going home this weekend with my friends Anni and Sungjin. My mother had left me a long text message explaining food options and furniture and this BIG SURPRISE!

I really hope it is either a cat or a dog! I CANNOT WAIT!

If I had to choose which dog or cat I will be greeted with this weekend, it would be:

1) Scottish Fold Cat

My favorite pet by far was a Scottish Fold by the name of Butter. These cats have the sweetest disposition and a lovable face. Their eyes are very big and their ears are usually folded.

2) Chihuahua

My favorite dog was a 6 pound Chihuahua by the name of Tinkerbell. Chihuahuas, contrary to popular belief, are very intelligent creatures. Tinkerbell never barked too much either and was very very loyal.

3) Teacup Poodle

To be honest, I just want one of these because they are SO CUTE. I mean, LOOK AT IT. Ah my goodness! It makes me so nauseous because of how cute it is!

4) Bengal

I really want this cat because it is SO beautiful! It looks just like a miniature leopard! Goodness, I want it!

I hope I am not getting too caught up with this idea of having the pet be a cat or a dog because knowing my mom, she could have gotten me a nice knit scarf or a hamster.

But keeping my fingers crossed for a SCOTTISH!
