Good for some, and bad for pretty much everyone else, for the first time in history, the Australian dollar has risen above the American dollar. This is a bit of old news (about 2 weeks), but it deserves a lot of notoriety. For the entire history of both countries, the Australian dollar has been the underdog. But due to a falter in America’s economy and a recent surge in Australia’s, it has happened.

But this surge in Australia’s economy is double sided. Sure it’s great that their dollar has risen dramatically in value, but what will this do to their tourist industry? Australia has to be one of the best vacation spots.
It has something for everyone; amazing hikes and landscape, some of the best beaches, skiing and the world’s largest rock. But amidst all of this beauty, the country may start to loose a large percentage it’s tourists. This is happening because most of their tourist are American. Most Americans will now find it hard to vacation in Australia because of the rise in the Australian dollar. So the inflation could work both ways for the Australians. We will soon see!
