What am I gonna say this time?-Worst Person 23 and 24

This is going to be more of just me talking but I’m gonna throw a worst person in there too for a little bit. But there’s a lot I wanna talk about.

First off, for anyone that plays fantasy football, I want to advise against one thing for any league you do in the future. Try to avoid family members. It just never ends well. I’m in a league that is only my family and it’s really been something. I’m going to offer a few nonexistent yet hilarious “awards” today.

First award goes to the best sleeper draft pick. A sleeper is a player that no one really thought was going to do that great but had a lot of potential. This player wasn’t highly sought after during the draft, but was stilled picked up. Usually sleepers are taken with late picks like the 10th or 11th round. This year, my mother of all people decided to pick up the biggest sleeper in the 4th round.

That player is Reggie Bush.

I’ll be honest. My mother was talking about drafting Reggie Bush the whole time. I’ll also tell you that if I got to the 8th round and he was still there, I was taking him. With the exception of my mother and I, no one saw his potential on a Dolphins team with no other weapons. My only issue with this is that 1) I’m playing against my mother this week and 2) she took him WAAAAY too early and missed out on bigger name players. However, that’s coming from someone that is 1-1 after the first two weeks. She’s 2-0.

The next award is for best free agent pick up. Now I’m not a cocky person. In fact, I’m relatively humble. However, I’m giving myself this award. I predicted at the beginning of the season that eventually, Buffalo would go to CJ Spiller as their number 1 running back. The incumbent, Fred Jackson, got hurt in the first week. Spiller came in and ran for 169 yards. I signed him immediately after the game.

My gamble paid off as he scored 30 fantasy points this past weekend, which is a MASSIVE sum. Congrats to me!

Next award is for biggest “I told ya so!” moment. That award goes to my cousin. On draft day, I warned everyone against drafting the completely overrated rocket arm Jay Cutler.

He did it anyway and now he’s paying for it. I can’t do anything but laugh at it.

My next award goes to myself and my other cousin for the “Ironic trade of the week”. I offered him a trade for Aaron Hernandez. Literally 20 minutes later, he got hurt and now is out for a few weeks. I quickly cancelled the trade. Every year, one way or another, I get involved with a slew of injured players.

This next award is kinda sad actually. This award is a tie between myself and my dad. I’ll call it the “Bust of the Year”. I drafted elite running back Chris Johnson. He drafted elite wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald. They’re both top 5 at their positions. Both have been absolutely terrible. Chris Johnson hasn’t gotten in the end zone in either of the past 2 weeks and hasn’t eclipsed 100 yards of total offense. Fitz is facing the same issue. 67 yards receiving and no TDs is no way to start the season. Thank God I have CJ Spiller, right?

Every year, there’s always one member of the fantasy league that just pulls a bonehead move. After the draft, I was left with two very uncertain tight ends. I had Dustin Keller and Tony Gonzalez. Looks great on paper, right?

Not when you start Keller!

After looking at my roster for a little while, I came to a conclusion.

I drafted too many receivers!

That’s when I went to check the free agency list for a solid tight end.

Nothing seemed good at first. That is, until I refreshed the page.

My aunt decided to release…ANTONIO GATES!!!!

Honestly, I was handed a strong tight end. I made the move, cut Vincent Jackson and I was completely stoked.

This brings me to my award presentation. I’ll call this one the “More than meets the Eye” award. I signed a broken player. Gates has a problem with his ribs, which I knew about but didn’t think it was so severe. He’s been limited in practice and is very slowly getting better. We will see soon I suppose.

Finally, I present the “Swallow your Pride” award. I give this one to my dad again.

He drafted two QBs in the draft. He took Cam Newton and RG3. This seems great, but only one problem.

He’s been starting Newton. RG3 is being wasted on the bench. RG3 has the most fantasy points of any player in the NFL this year. Number 2 is CJ Spiller, but I’m actually using him. Just bench Cam.

Worst people number 23 and 24 have actually already been mentioned. I gotta give this one to CJ2K (Chris Johnson) and Larry Fitzgerald. Both have underachieved to such drastic lengths that I’m starting to consider trading Johnson. I love making trades, but not for someone I used a high draft pick (2nd round) to get. I should be pissed about Calvin Johnson too (first round pick) but he’s at least put up some yards and he’s bound to get in the end zone at some point. I just hate busts. It’s the worst feeling seeing your roster with so much potential just fall flat on their faces.

I am headed to Lee Vining, California until next Monday and won’t be blogging NFL or anything until then. I know what you’re thinking. “Ah he’s leaving! How will we all survive?” Don’t complain! I’ll be back soon! Until then, keep hating everyone!!!
