After over a year of waiting one of my favorite musical artists was finally playing near me.
Before school started I was just surfing the web, looking for some concerts I may want to go to this year, and there were a few, but none that got my attention as much as “Mac Miller at the Santa Barbara Bowl.”
I immediately called my friends who shared the same interest in Mac Miller, and we made the decision to purchase our tickets well in advance to make sure that we were at this concert that we had been waiting for for so long.
It may seem weird to be so excited about a musician coming, but Mac, being so young and new, usually only played small shows close to his hometown of Pittsburgh, PA.
Every once in a while Mac and his crew ventured out to the west coast, but still not anywhere I could have gotten to easily.
This past Saturday was the day we had all been waiting for.
Finally, my friends and I were going to see Mac Miller, and it was everything I had wished it to be.
For those of you who don’t know Mac Miller or “Malcom James McCormick is an up and coming rap sensation.
At the age of 15 Mac knew he was going to make it in the music industry, and so he did.
Back then he went by “EZ Mac” instead of Mac Miller, but none the less, still a great rapper.
Mac released his first mix tape in 2007 at the age of 15 called “Mackin’ Ain’t Easy” and from there went on to producing his most current album, “Blue Slide Park.”

In between “Mackin Ain’t Easy,” and “Blue Slide Park,” Miller has released many mix-tapes, some of the most current ones being Macadelic, which his most recent tour has been named after, and a new EP he is producing, called “Pink Slime,” with big name artist and producer Pharrell.

Mac Miller has really shown that being young cannot stop you from becoming what you want to be.
At the age of 18 he had already made a name for himself in the music industry, and was on his way to becoming a very successful musician.
For a musician to be just 18 years old and have the number one album on the Billboard 2oo is a big deal.

Although he may rap about things that for his age might not always be legal, he is still a great rapper, musician, and artist.
Now, enough with his background, and back to the concert.
On Saturday after being defeated in our football game against Hillcrest Christian I was feeling pretty down and upset.
I was very tired, and all I wanted to do was go to sleep.
Luckily I had this concert to look forward to at night, so I put all my thoughts aside, and forced myself to gain some energy so that I would enjoy this concert that I had been waiting to go to for so long.
After the game I rushed home to get cleaned up and get out of the house so that my friends and I could make the drive up to Santa Barbara.
We made it to the concert just in time to hear the beginning of Mac’s opening artist YG, while waiting in line to get our wristbands to grant us access to the general admission pit.
Once we made it up the hill, we packed ourselves in tight with the audience and watched Travis Porter, Mac’s second opening act, perform for what seemed life forever, before Mac actually came out on stage.

After Travis Porter had performed, a few people started to walk out to go get some water, and so where a hole was made, there were spots available, so we pushed forward even harder to try to get as close to the front of the stage as possible.
Finally Mac and his hype man/back up singer, Tree J, arrived on stage and began their concert.
The crowd was going insane, and Mac started out with some of his earlier songs such as “Best Day Ever” and “Kool-Aid and Frozen Pizza.”
He went on to perform hits like “Smile Back,” “Frick Park Market,” and the song that brought him all the way to the top, “Missed Calls,” to close the show.
After performing “Missed Calls,” he walked off stage and the crowd began to chant, “One more song! One more song,” not only did he come back out, but he performed two more songs, including a crowd favorite, “Donal Trump.”

Near the end of this song my friends and I began to head towards the exit to beat the main crowd, and managed to make it out without hitting any traffic on foot or on the streets.
I will never forget going to this performance, and hopefully I will have another chance to see him perform live again.
