Ambani brothers at war.

After their split in business a couple a years ago, the richest brothers in the world, Mukesh and Anil Ambani, seem to be constantly competing against each other, not only at work but also at home.

The brothers divided their billion dollar property after the death of their self-made father and oil tycoon, Dhirubhai Ambani. Ever since, there has been no stoping for the two who are determined to beat each other in the race.

The two took their competition home. While the elder, Mukesh Ambani spent a whopping $60 million to buy his wife a corporate jet for her 44th birthday, the younger, Anil, did not feel left behind because the year after he spent $84 million on a Yacht that he bought for his wife, Tina Ambani.

With the opening of Mukesh’s new billion dollar house in Mumbai, which has been announced the most expensive house in the world, it is obvious Anil probably feels a little left behind. However, it is probably not long before the younger brother had something new to challenge his brother with.

The Beatles Are On iTunes!

“Tomorrow is just another day. That you’ll never forget.”

Apple displayed this arcane message on their website until 10 A.M. Eastern Standard Time on November the 16th. It has been replaced with a large monochrome picture of the Beatles with black bold letters reading, “The Beatles. Now on iTunes.”

This message is still presented on Apple’s website today. The Beatles have reached the Top 100 downloaded songs on iTunes within the first few weeks and still stands strong in its ranking.

North Korea Terrorizes South Korea

Bombs ignited infernal flames. Buildings were shaken, violently convulsing with each heavy missile. Cameras caught people scrambling, the fear so clearly portrayed. Tensions were at an all time high. Families were packing, boarding ships to evacuate the island to the safety of the mainland.

This is a country in war.

Last Tuesday, South Korea’s Yeongpyeong Island was bombed by North Korea. North Korea had sent warnings to South Korea, advising the South Korean military to stop military exercises. However, the South Korean military continued to train their soldiers. The bombs were a result of South Korea’s disregard of these orders.

Afghanistan Women Cry in Fire

To burn is the only form of expression allowed to Afghanistan women.

Having been Married and suffered at young age, they fail to find an escape.

Gulbar, for example, was rushed into a local hospital in Northern Afghanistan with horrid burn on her nearly deformed body and face. Her internal body scans and blind eye narrate the story themselves: she had been brutally abused by her husband.

In another case, after an argument, Salehah’s husband poured gasoline over her tied up body and set it on fire.

Zarghona was also burned by her father-in-law for not washing her husband’s clothes thoroughly. She was fifteen.

However, these three are not the only victims. So far, about 800 cases have been “officially” recorded for the abuse cases.

The unfortunate social, mental, and physical suppression continue to bring greater depression and slavery for these women.

So, they burn themselves in fire.

If they get to survive with a slim chance, they cry muted again.

A Caculated Bombardment from North Korea

On November 23, 2010, North Korea bombarded a small island of Yeonpyeong, killing two innocent civilians and provoking South Korea to fire similar bombs as retaliation to the North.

To the news of his two victims, the North Korean dictator Kim Il-Sung replied, “That is unfortunate.”

Several hours after the bombing was reported widely through media, in Seoul, the South Korean Capital, I was surprised to get a taxi so fast during the busy hours and have the usually heavily trafficked freeway all to my lucky self.

“People feared,” said my taxi driver after telling me how he does not believe in the imminence of the Korean War any time soon.

I agree. Fortunately, resuming to the Korean War is not so simple. During the years of the pause, the world has intricately involved itself with the war economically, socially, and politically. Logically, North Korea needs consent from China and South Korea needs one from America and UN to begin the second Korean War.

However, I am not saying that North Korea has acted out of irrationality. They indeed must have a meticulous calculation behind this bombing.

Yet, the world has not been informed of this plan.

Scientists Claim Removal of Proteins Can Rid Brain of Bad Memories

Reminiscing over one’s most embarrassing, upsetting memory has never proven to be fun. Recalling the first time you tripped in front of your  kindergarten crush to the first time your heart was broken, the painful memories are always something we hate to remember, but unfortunately, the things we remember most.

Recently, researchers at John Hopkins University have linked the removal of proteins from the brain’s fear center to the permanent removal of certain memories. Although some may simply wish to use this process so that their most unlikable memories may never again be recounted, professor and chair of neuroscience at John Hopkins University, Richard L. Huganir, believes that this mechanism could also be applied to people with certain disorders.

“This raises the possibility of manipulating those mechanisms with drugs to enhance behavioral therapy for such conditions as post-traumatic stress disorder” said Huganir.

Though before we are consumed with the idea that all our pains can magnificently just disappear, critical doubts have been placed on Huganir’s theory by the executive director of the mental health support group NAMI Maryland, Karin Farinholt.

“Erasing a memory and then everything bad built on that is an amazing idea, and I can see all sorts of potential,” said Farinholt in an interview with the Baltimore Sun. “But completely deleting a memory, assuming it’s one memory, is a little scary. How do you remove a memory without removing a whole part of someone’s life, and is it best to do that, considering that people grow and learn from their experiences.”

Fight The Fees!

Freedom of speech, one of the many rights we have as a human being. Many around the globe are not necessarily able to exercise this right through fear or extreme consequences. People are unfairly prosecuted for expressing an opinion. Today in the United Kingdom teenagers all over the country stand up for what they believe to be right.

In the United Kingdom the government has released a new scheme to raise university tuition fees across the country. This decision has caused much controversy and teenagers all over Britain have united in order to make a change.

Many teens believe the opportunity for them to go to University has been diminished by these cuts, as the expenses are far too much. In the past the government have supported teens paying for expenditures in order to encourage people to further their education. Now this opportunity has gone, how many dreams will be lost?

Everywhere teenagers are attempting to make a change, voicing their opinions through numerous peaceful protests, marches and walkouts. Numerous students and school pupils have walked out of classes in protest. It seems even teachers and lectures are protesting.

People have gathered in major towns and cities in order to demonstrate their strong opinions, aiming to gain the government’s attention. Admirably they have taken it upon themselves to make a change.

These strong-willed individuals have set out with great intention to help the youth. They are taking a stand in order to salvage their crumbling dreams as well as those of people all over the country.

In 2003 millions of people came together in London in order to protest against war in Iraq yet the government went against the masses wishes and decided to enter our troops. Lets hope the youth of the country have more success in this international issue. After all it is the future of the country the government is destroying.

NYC Taxi Drivers to Add a Touch of Class to the “Big Apple”

New York City taxi roaming streets of Manhattan.

For some strange reason, one of my overall fascinations about the so called “Big Apple” of New York City has always been taxis. No, I am not saying that the bright yellow color and black streaks absorb me in some weird type of fascination, but rather, in my mind, a night on the town has always seemed incomplete without this shiny yellow car.

Though with most of my experiences consisting of average dressed cabbies, I have never once thought of what they were wearing, in fact never even recognized it. And although the little small screen may prevent us from silently judging their clothes, I see it as quite a bit odd as most of Manhattan seems to be dominated by walking models from the latest Cosmo or Vogue magazines.

Though it seems like I may be one of a few carrying this opinion.

Spoiler Alert?

I went to see Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 1 yesterday, and I was more than enthusiastic with the results. I was paying strict attention to the scenes and details and I found only three important things that they either altered a little bit or left out entirely.

Compared to all of the other Harry Potter movies, this is phenomenal.

The only major things they left out or changed in the movie that JK Rowling wrote in the book were the goodbyes between Harry and the Dursley family, Hedwig‘s death (sadface), and a mural Luna Lovegood had painted on the ceiling of her room.

In the book, Harry’s cousin, Dudley Dursley, gives Harry a strong hug goodbye and confesses how he never hated Harry, not after he saved his life in Book Five. In the movie, however, Harry just watches them drive away in their car, never to be seen again.

LA Auto Show and the Phantom v

The L.A. auto show is happening this week. Some of the world’s most amazing cars will premiere at the show; futuristic cars, new sports cars and energy efficient cars. I have gone to the show for many years, but i will now be going this year.

To me, cars are a way of getting from point A to point B, but there is one car that stands out. The Rolls Royce Phantom v is the only car that I have ever loved. The classic car is very large, yet very elegant. To me, it symbolizes classy-ness and beauty. This is the car that I want to own when I am able to have one. The Rolls Royce Phantom v…..
