I’ve been to plenty of concerts in the last couple of years. From Gwen Stefani and the Black Eyed Peas to Attack Attack, I’ve made my way around San Francisco’s music scene. After attending the Bridge School Benefit Concert last weekend, I went with another friend to go see an small, Canadian girl perform at Slims. Seeing Lights was by far the best show that I’ve seen.
333 11th Avenue, San Francisco. I could almost call Slims my second home. I’ve seen friends play on that stage as well as large-scale bands. The small, but mighty, stage also has one other title that no other stage can hold, the host of the best show that I have yet to see.
Lights is one of those girls that I’m pretty sure that every girl envies. She’s beautiful, can sing, and has an amazing personality. She even mixes her on backgrounds which almost sound as if it’s a rave and plays the keytar as well as piano and guitar. On the stage, she has a presence like no other. Her bubbly persona spreads to the crowd and invited everyone to dance and have a great time.
Not only do her tickets sell out with in days, she even appeals to audiences other that scene kids and music fanatics. Although her recorded music sounds auto-tuned and somewhat bland, when on stage she lights up the whole venue with her bass-pumping beats and her rainbow flashing lights. She even sang her own rendition of the now youtube famous single made from a news clip of a man broadcasting a threatening message to whomever broke into his sisters house. Lets just say that there is no other show that can compare to hers.
