Tired.

It is a type of drowsiness that envelops your entire being. It wraps around your body in a warm embrace and then suddenly dunks you into the Atlantic Ocean. It is unavoidable. You may postpone it, but you cannot escape the overwhelming exhaustion that becomes your entire soul.

You try to keep your eyes open, but if feels as though 20 bags of cement are on top of each lid, forcing them down, down, down. You have to stay awake, you have important things to do that could not possibly wait until morning, but you cannot control your subconscious.

Every day, I will wake up tired. Every day, I will be longing to be in my bed, eyes shut, and drifting softly into my dreams. No matter how much sleep I get the night before, I will forever be tired.

I feel like I could fall asleep all day, but when it comes the time where I am in my bed, my eyes refuse to close. All of a sudden, I am wide awake, and there is nothing I can do about it.

Tired, drowsy, and sleepy turn into awake, distressed, and uncomfortable.

When the day comes that I wake up, well rested and ready to start my day, I will be no less then shocked.

When the day comes, if the day comes?

I am awaiting it.

one award, one list

Once upon a time there was an award for cinematic excellence. This was a truly special award. Just to be nominated was a truly special thing. Those who won have remained in our hearts for years and their legend lives on today. To the winners, we salute you.

“Scha-wingggggg”- Wayne Campbell

What happened to this award?! Seriously! If they allow teen’s choice awards to even exist then I personally don’t see the logic in getting rid of something like this. This list was great. It got our imaginations working and it was guaranteed to start arguments not end them. Not to mention the increase at the box office. Seeing as I’m a man of charity though, I will not let them win. I will keep stimulating minds and creating intellectual thought, as well as helping out the movie business.

Now here’s a list I have personally compiled. The top 10 action movie starletts of the past decade. This particular topic came up because 1: The Roommate is coming out soon, and 2: well I just seem to believe that this genre seems to leave guys walking out of the theater drooling thanks to girls in tight leather uttering catchy one liners and shooting .38s. Plus (3) they all seem to be smoking hot.

here’s my list.

1: Angelina Jolie (Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Lara Croft Tomb Raider)

2: tie between Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, and Lucy Liu (Charlie’s Angels)

3: Scarlett Johansson (Iron Man 2)

4: Keira Knightley (Pirates of the Caribbean)

5: Olga Kurylenko (James Bond Quantum of Solace)

6: Rose Byrne (Troy)

7: Eva Mendes (2Fast 2Furious)

8: Jessica Biel (Blade Trinity)

9: Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil and Ultraviolet)

10: Rose McGowan (Planet Terror)

Julia Roberts adopts Hinduism

At one point being the most highly paid and top actress in Hollywood, Julia Roberts is now a practicing Hindu. The 42-year-old gorgeous, Oscar-winning actress, who owned the hearts of millions with her performance in Pretty Woman, says she goes to the temple with her family to “chant, pray and celebrate.”

Julia Roberts took to Hinduism during her performance in, Eat, Pray, Love, for which she travelled to India and visited the ashrams for spirituality. Roberts also brought her three children along with her to experience the  calm and the peace.

Swami Dharamdev of the Hari Mandir, where Eat, Pray, Love was shot, said that prior to leaving for Bali for rest of the movie, Roberts requested the priest to pray for her mother. Her mother had been ill for a while.  The Priest recalls telling her that ” she may choose not to eat or love, but don’t forget to pray. Make that an integral part of your life, not acting in this film.” Roberts smiled and nodded affirmatively

78 Year Old Shirley-It’s never too late.

You’re always told it’s never too late, yet who believes it. Even now at the age of 16 I numerously find my self saying it’s too late. It’s one of those great excuses we begin to use, as we grow older. An excuse placed in fear of looking foolish or embarrassing ourselves, subsequently a fear of failure.

Countless times the old wise tale has been proven incorrect yet we continue to believe it.  Today that perception changed as I read the inspiring story of an O.A.P.

Before I tell the story I belief I should explain the term O.A.P. An O.A.P or old age pensioner is someone past the age of 65. In Britain this is retiring age. Once you reach this age you reap numerous benefits in order to provide care and support for you in your final years. These include free public transport, discounted prices, and of course the all important pension.

Unstoppable

I tried. My sister, Woo Jung Park who is a sixth grader at Pakmun Elementary School in South Korea, started dancing much later than the starting ages of any other dancers. For nearly two years, I unsuccessfully attempted to divert her attention from the Korean Traditional Dance.

I agree with her that dance is a magical experience. It allows one to portray the inner mind beautifully with the heart-throbbing moves. Nonetheless, there are disadvantages. During the summer, I could not resist my frowning at her swollen and nearly deformed feet. I clearly did not want my sister to debilitate both mentally and physically. Then, a single day has revolutionized my mind.

Who is Scott Thompson?

Scott Thompson is probably the best known ginger except for maybe Tiny Tim or Shaun White. Scott Thompson is Carrot Top. Personally, I am no big fan of Carrot Top, mostly beause of his straight yet diagnal eyebrows and his bulging muscles that simply seem too large and veiny to be real. (See picture below)

Apparently Scott had an interesting encounter with the Recycled Percussion, a all percussion group heading to China now for “China’s Got Talent.” Scott made the bet that the Doplphins would win against the Patriots in the “Monday Night Mash up.” If Scott were to lose he would have to perform five minutes of live percussion music against the RP’s Justin Spencer who, in return, would do five minutes of stand up comedy. In the end, the Patriots came out victorious. Tough luck Carrot Top.

Ojai Day is just around the corner

Ojai Day is coming up! It starts on October 16th. Ojai day always takes place on the third Waturday of October. The admission is free along with the parking. There are special areas for kids, teens and adults. The event recognizes that summer is over and it is time to celebrate a new change of season. “The event was originally conceived in 1917, took a hiatus in the 1920’s and has been back with a vengeance since 1991. It’s grown tremendously and has become one of the most popular events in Ojai,” states Jody James the event’s organizer. “The event itself celebrates life, culture and the arts.”
There are all kinds of stands that cover the down town area of Ojai ranging from art to clothing. The food and music are special highlights during this celebration. This day is full of leisure and appreciating spending time with your friends and family, it is also a good place to meet new people.

Bella Roma

Rome was my home. Indeed, living in Rome itself was a beauty. While residing on Via Volusia from 2008 to 2009, I wished I was a S.P.Q.R. girl. Many people are familiar with the term “Romans,” but in the real world of Rome, the Italians with legitimate Roman birth certificates are actually called the “S.P.Q.R.,” or Senatus Populusque Romanus.

Here are the moments that I miss the most: eating a pizza or gelato on the steps of Piazza di Popollo and Spagna, lowering prices of items by proving that I was not a tourist, buying the freshest fruits and vegetables coated with the early morning mist at Campo di Fiori, riding a bicycle around the city with my friends’ support, taking my European History class in “Roma,” hearing my favorite gypsy violinist play behind the Pantheon, complaining about the heavy morning traffic with the police officers and neighbors on my way to school, having sugarless cappuccino, pasta with thin spread of cheese and salt, rosetta (rose-shaped) bread with prosciutto and juicy mozzarella inside, or crispy panini as breakfast and lunch during school hours, going to guilty vintage shopping where gypsies sell their stolen goods, running to catch buses 213 and 202 every morning, hanging out in my neighborhood of Via Cassia, going for picnics at Borghese Park, sneering at the posters of scandalous Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, listening to Andrea Bocelli’s magical cadence spilling from the Coliseum, learning about business people from Embassies of diverse countries, FAO (Food and Agricultural Organization), and NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) in Parioli, gazing at the back side of Santa Majore Church at night, strolling down Via Berlini with my beautiful friends on my side, and tasting the most delicious gelato in the world near Termini Station.

On the guilty side of our subconsciousness, we love the superficiality. Ojai Valley School, a  campus on 195 acres, digests unbelievable amount of gossips ranging from trivial to substantial each day. I may be involved, you may be involved, or we may even be grouped in a single story.

This ultimate truth could upset someone like me. We can act like we do not care, but on the very back side of our brain, our nerves will always be tingling due to these sneaky “truths.” So, why don’t we enjoy?
