Giants Superbowl Again…

The harsh reality that the New York Giants took the 2012 Super Bowl win away from the New England Patriots was a tough one to cope with.

I am not a big Patriots fan but man do I dislike the Giants. That is a team that I’ve never liked. It might be the fact that Eli Manning is on it, or maybe that they have won enough super bowls and it’s just boring to see them there again.

I was especially disappointed in the fact that Eli Manning was given the MVP award. In my opinion that award should have gone to Giants player #82 Mario Manningham. He made an amazing catch that I believe changed the game for them to take it home.

Averaging 14.6 yards per reception for a total of 73 yards, played a key role in the Giant’s offense in the final minutes of the Super Bowl. His most notable catch of the night was the 38 yard sideline catch that moved the Giants offense from deep within their own territory into the midfield. Manning was under heavy pressure at the Giants’ own 5 yard line and threw a pass of desperation to Manningham, who was put under heavy two-man pressure. Statistically speaking, this play should be impossible but Manningham was able to get catch the ball and quickly plant both feet in the ground before being knocked out of bounds by the two corners that were at his heels the entire time.

Camping

I got back from the Ojai Valley School Outdoor Education trip (6 day camping) this past Friday. It was an interesting experience. I hiked up to Machu Pichu once, but the porters carried all my stuff so I hadn’t backpacked before.

We washed dishes with dirt, went to the bathroom in the wild, didn’t shower for 6 days…

But other than that, it was a fun trip. On the first day, we went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Since I was walking with the marine science teacher, she answered every question I had, which made it more fun and interesting!

On the second day, we backpacked about six and a half miles with a 25- pound backpack on my back and the camping began. I had bruises on my shoulders and my back but I felt accomplished after it all.

We played card games, hiked a lot, and saw many amazing vistas, it was so inspirational.

This is the OVS outdoor education website. Camping pictures will be up soon so check them out ☺

Brave

Inspired by fellow blogger and close friend theycallmedame

If I were brave, I would not fear the sharks
I would not cringe at the thought of their teeth
Their jaws
Their tails
Those dark, dark eyes

If I were brave, I would not fear the water
I would not fear my greatest pleasure

If I were brave, I would embrace the waves
I would run into their cool, translucent arms

Feel their shivering droplets
Taste the salty spray
Without my heart bursting in my ears

If I were brave, I would not fear the night
I would not shrink from darkness
I would run beneath the stars

If I were brave, I would know that perfect stillness
Of the witching hour’s peace

If I were brave, I would laugh at empty moonlight
Not scramble toward the safe house

If I were brave, I would not fear you, my love
I would not shy from your touch
I would kiss you like that time before
The kiss beneath the lantern light
That kiss so laced with swirling fog

If I were brave, I could tell you
The way you make me feel
So alive, so hurting and exalted
So wishing to be with you

If I were brave, you’d love me too.

Android invades the Military

Android vs Ios. It is a common argument fought on backroom internet forums. It seems however that android has won this battle. The US Military will adopt the Android operating system this year, putting it inside their tactical devices. The military has already shipped about 40 phones overseas, it is planned that 75 tablets and 50 phones will be sent to the army this march.

These devices will be used to modernize the army and increase the individual soldiers capabilities. It will also be useful for intelligence officers stationed overseas. Soldiers and intelligence officers often need to make secure calls to Washington. These calls require encrypted software, software that android has the potential to run. This software will allow calls to be transmitted securely with little threat of people dropping in.

The app that will be released with these devices is called Mission Commands. It will allows soldiers to share information seamlessly on the battlefield. A major advantage of these devices are that they are easy to use and require no specialized training. These device will be released this July.

Coca Cola!

I have always been and always will be a Coke fan. It is in my opinion a thousand times better than Pepsi, not only in taste but also in marketing and the company all around.

Coca Cola is the main sponsor for the Olympic Game, as well as a world wide known brand. Coca Cola is a brand that is known to put a smile on some one face.

Coke has always had some of the greatest banners and adds to represent their product. The older ones are amazing, and they show us that coke has been around for quite a while. As well as their christmas adds.

The bottles have changed quite a bit since the 1899, and to be honest I wish they looked the way they used to look.

Something awesome that I found was that Coke used to have Coca Cola coupons that entitled you to a free glass of Coke! that is so cool, its too bad that some things have changed.

For some, Coca Cola has been a part of their lives for the entire duration and for others it has never been introduced, but when it is introduced it is known to be loved.

So Im definitely a Coke guy. What are you?

Airplane Car?

I was looking through the news on CNN and I came across something that in my opinion is magnificent. I read and watched an article about an airplane car.

This is a fully functional airplane that can travel up to 500 miles in distance, with the addition of being able to fit inside your garage as well as being able to drive on the highway and any other roads.

The woman in the video said something that caught my attention, she said that if they fly somewhere and the weather gets to be too windy than they can just drive back on the freeway! isn’t that just AWESOME!!!

I knew that eventually flying cars would become a possibility, but I didn’t think it would happen so yet. The world is definitely changing at a very fast pace.

I wonder what other crazy inventions will come up in the near future. Hopefully good ones.

49ers Player #10 Kyle Williams Costs the team a chance at the Super Bowl

Tonight was a sad night for all San Francisco 49ers fans, a sadness brought on by a 3 point defeat from the New York Giants. A win that was fed on a silver platter to the Giants by 49ers player Kyle Williams.

His first major mistake was a bad bounce and his hesitation to make a decision, the ball bounced off his own knee. Despite being filmed from several angles on national television, Kyle Williams thought he could deceive the world with his acting skills. The ball took an obvious direction change after colliding with Williams’ knee, yet he pretended like it had never happened. When he heard the referee’s decision, he acted like he was a victim.

49ers Player #10 Kyle Williams took the award for being the laughing-stock of tonight’s game. Thanks to his inability to keep hold of the football, which was smacked out of his hands by Jacquian Williams from the Giants.

It is a shame that one player could have such an effect on the outcome of a game. Especially when it’s for the worst.

And We Call Ourselves Humans

There are times when we as human beings do the right thing, help others, and make a difference. But much like everything in life one bad always makes the good disappear.

We call our selves humans yet we are truly the animals.

Today I saw a post on Facebook that left me in complete awe, It was a photo of two teenagers flashing their middle fingers at the camera while one of them held a thin rope with which he had hanged a puppy.

I am disgusted with the fact that a person could ever do something so unbelievably and horribly wrong. I am in every way hopeful that enough attention is brought to this photograph that these two rotten “human beings” will be found and prosecuted accordingly.

There is no way that this is acceptable. This is as unfair as a situation could possibly get. This is a poor innocent animal which was hanged for the entertainment of two idiotic children.

I feel I have said enough to get the point across but if there is anything anyone would like to add please feel free to do so in the comment box because I would love to see what others think.

New Years Resolutions

happy new years

On New Year‘s night I took a moment to come up with some good resolutions that I believe will improve my life. For once I want to live up to the resolutions that I decide to make.

For the year of 2012 the first thing I would like to do is develop a more effective way of saving money. I feel that this is a very important element to growing up as well as a good skill to possess as I head into college.

Secondly I would like to start to improve my health. The main things to improve it would definitely be eating healthier foods as well as exercising more often and at a higher rate.health and fitness

For my third and final resolution, I would like to enjoy the rest of my senior year at OVS with the girl who matters the most to me as well as with some of the greatest friends anyone could ever ask for or hope for, cough cough** Evan Cooper! then I would like to enjoy my upcoming summer, and take advantage of every opportunity presented to me for the rest of the year.

Happy 2012 everyone!
2012
LETS MAKE IT A GREAT YEAR!!!

What’s Left Of Us…?

Yesterday, a fascinating idea struck me as I ate breakfast in the cafeteria. As I was looking at the various awards in the display case (that will be handed out the day before GRADUATION), my eyes fell upon one award in particular. It is indeed, in my eyes, the ugliest award: a rock glued onto a metal platform.

But it made me think. And I talked to (thebrownguy) about this and I wanted to share this thought with you. I am curious to know what you feel.

What would happen if the world ended now?

If all that was left of us was dust and scraps and rocks attached to metal platforms, what would later civilizations think? Would they see our accomplishments? The progression we have made? The technological breakthroughs, the scientific knowledge, the intellectual beings we came to be?

Or would they see an obvious path to self-destruction? Would they see a failure to come together, an overuse of natural supplies, greed, ignorance, pride? Would they find a fallen people?

I don’ t know. I think it is a little bit of both. Maybe one more than the other.

First off, everything on the internet would be negligible to later civilizations because there will be no electricity or MacBook to bring it to life. Which again, I hold ambivalent opinions on because it nullifies a lot of academia and creativity our society holds. Beautiful bits of knowledge that are held in educational websites, news, recipes, photography, or even blogs such as the OVS Journalism Blog will be gone. However, I would be relieved because of all the negatives the cyber world has brought us. Such as bullying. Or self-image issues. The tabloids. Peer pressures and social standards.

Most of what knowledge we hold will be represented by print. And with the newspaper industry slowly falling apart due to our society’s thirst for instantaneous news reports, what we leave behind in print will be very little. Kindles and Nooks will mean nothing with a dead battery. But with what little we have, I believe we can draw inspiration and perhaps a chance for change.

And our carbon footprint. The huge problem that most people fail to see or don’t care to fix. We cannot come together to solve such a simple problem. And the ramifications of our indulgent lifestyles will be shown in our oceans and the weather. It will be proven in the industrialization and in the air. The later civilizations will see how wasteful we were. Hopefully, these people will also take the initiative to learn from our mistakes and live with a more sustainable, eco-friendly initiative.

However, more importantly, it made me think about what I have done in my life and what I can do to make a change. It made me realize how I could start with myself to make the world a better place, as cliche as that sounds. As for me, I am going to college in mere months and I believe that, with the willpower, I can do something.

Now the question I want to ask is: What will you leave behind?
