Mundane Steps

hh

Trekking in the early morning, on a cracked road.

My feet do not step, but drag.

They are busy, hurrying to and from the mundane.

Isolated they step and dart through the mid-morning traffic.

And the people they talk, laugh, and cry.

Where they go, they do not care.

People do not realize what a mundane system it is.

You drive to a destination and get out.

For what?

To stare, to think, to buy, and to wonder

what is the point of it all?

Afterward.

Afterward, I have learned how to love
But you have gone long ago, disappearing in the crowd.

Afterward, having wiped away tons of tears I finally realized,
you were just one of the passerby in my life.

The eternal night of the midsummer when I was seventeen,
the night you kissed me
Since then whenever I think of the stars of that night,
sadness haunts me.

How do you think about me,
with smile or in complete silence?

Afterward, when I looked back
there was a time
when a girl was so in love with a boy
who would never come back.

Curtain Call

As this year is drawing to an end, this is my last mandatory blog.

I wanted to take a second and thank all you have read my blog through my year in this class, but this isn’t the last of me.

I plan to be blogging this summer through whatever adventures I may encounter, but I will be back regularly in a few months.

Many of you have enjoyed my poetry or sports stories this year so I will leave you with one last poem.

Thank you for bringing traffic to our site, and please spread the word.

As it draws to an end so does this journey.

Another year, going nowhere, sitting in the same spot we were in, when the first day started.

The same spot we were in the first time my eyes met yours.

As I prepare to take my final walk out on stage, I would like to think I’d see you in the audience.

The applause resonate through the building, and I stand behind closed curtains.

Shaking, nervous as could be, hoping you’ll be there, but when they open and I take my final bows, where the applause once were, lay and emptiness.

My heart drops, and once again I feel alone.

Just as I did when this show began.

This is the kind of show I never want to see the end of, but you hold my head towards the screen.

I would like to live in the illusion I have created of how our show ends, but instead you put me in front of everyone, only to find myself standing alone, and you aren’t even there.

I take my bow to an empty room, but it does not stop.

The show must go on.

My Anecdote

As the leaves change colors maybe your love will too.

As the fall brings change hopefully it comes in more than one way.

I have waited for too long to give up now, so don’t you give up either.

We both know it’s there, but something has to make it appear.

Sometimes you don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone,

But I don’t know how to leave.

I don’t think I can leave.

And if I could I don’t think I would.

Time heals all wounds, but what if only half of my body is trying to heal the wound.

Will it ever heal?

Maybe you are my anecdote.

Suck the poison from my veins.

Help me stop dying.

Slowly wasting away waiting.

Sitting, and waiting.

Watching, hoping.

Crying and laughing.

Fall back and spring forward.

Fall back (in love with me) Spring forward (into a new life)

As the leaves change, I will remain the same, but maybe your colors will change too.

Trek.

I want to trek across the country.

Explore every nook and cranny America has to offer.

North to south east to west.

I want to see great mountains.

I want to see vast expanses of plains.

I want to see the good and the bad.

I want to see the farmer toiling endlessly for his crop.

I want to see the child growing up in compton who is destined to be a great artist.

America has so much to offer

And only a trek would do it justice.

The Flower I Like.

Someone admire the ones made of clay
Which they were given the gift of a long life
Someone love the ones that are fresh
Which their smell is like the love songs from the sweetest wife
If I have to choose what I like
The ones have flesh and blood blow up my mind

Even their color would faint
Their face would age
But there was once their spirit
Lighted up by the fire of life
If death is coming
Please take me after my blooming night

Healing Process.

I saw your face again last night
In my dreams, of course.

The breeze carries your smell
and it makes me dizzy
I am soaked into the memories
as if you are still about to hold my body

Everything stays the same besides your absence
as my world collapses
I try to stand up by myself
And for the first time,
I see the world full of emptiness

I guess I need to build up my world again
by my own.

Don’t ask me about my feelings
I am fine
It’s just a healing process.

A Holy Bond

fr

A debate has been raging for centuries.

Since the growing power of the cross.

Since the beginning of the dark ages.

Companionship considered unholy.

Unholy by who?

Unholy by religion?

Unholy by those who cling to the past.

What is right and what is wrong is decided by society.

Not by an institution or a country.

The masses have spoken.

They wish freedom for all people of their land.

God was not a factor in the founding of this nation.

Wise men believed country and God did not mix.

Their plan succeeded.

Eventually however their work was undone.

Undone by misguided “holy” men.

Intertwining Reality

A single piece of energy,

Moving at the end of the universe.

The beginning and the end.

the universe has receded to this.

It’s become something of a mystery to those involved, though I don’t think they care.

It was a simulation all along.

Through the Wall

I recently wrote a poem for OVS‘s love poetry competition. While I didn’t win, I was pretty proud of what I wrote. I realize that this is more of a short story than a poem but I spoke from the heart. Whenever people read something, they always question who or what it’s about. This is simply a story about forbidden love. Read and interpret for yourselves.

She was the one he could never quite reach.

There was always some barrier keeping them apart.

He didn’t understand why.

The wall was solid.

He knew she was on the other side.

It was all that was ever on his mind.

How everyday, he’d try.

Just to be next to her.

And he’d try

And try.

And try.

You would think that constant failure would render him helpless.

But his love for her wouldn’t let him stop.

Then one day, one lone hole emerged in the wall.

He could see the light.

She was beautiful.

He had never seen anything like her.

He needed to be with her.

He was in love.

And there was no way out.

As one wall was falling

a new wall was forming

He realized that as his desire for her burned inside,

he was trapped.

He was never getting away from his love.

Her radiance shown as if she truly was an angel.

Infatuation, obsession, affection,

He felt helpless without her.

As he fell harder and harder, the wall began to crumble away.

The wall sheltering him from escape was now impassable.

He could see her face.

And she looked on him with bright eyes

The two never looking away

She smiled at him

And he smiled back

He saw his chance, and tried to reduce the rest of the wall to rubble.

Taking any opportunity to make her realize

He loved her

Piece by piece

Brick by brick

He pushed through

And he held her

And she him

They were finally together

After so much determination

His efforts to make her realize

How he really felt

And she was beautiful

He was not blinded by his addiction

She was flawless in nature

Her entire being was bright

Her eyes, stars that envied the night sky

Her smile, the only thing that made him happy

Her voice, sweeter and softer than the sounds of the most glorious choirs

Her heart, only for him

Her touch, made him hope that she’d never take her hand away

She refused to accept it at first

But somehow

He knew that she did

And somehow

She knew that she loved him.

The wall between them had fallen.

And a new wall surrounded them.

But they were together

And that’s all he ever wanted.
