Chocolate Chip Pancakes with a Side of kirbyfullyloaded.

So my wish came true!

I was able to go to the beach with an amazing friend of mine, Emmy (kirbyfullyloaded).

It was nice being able to be away from the dorms. It felt like the first time in a long time since I had been away from school related things.

Emmy’s mom is amazing. She made us breakfast everyday. In fact, this morning she made us chocolate chip pancakes and we ate them watching the high tide with the early sun.

Chocolate. Sun. Sand. Ocean. What else could a girl ask for??

Anyways, after breakfast, we both changed from our pajamas into our bathing suits (although it probably wasn’t the best idea considering my massive food baby) and ran to tan on the deck of her house. We listened to Maroon 5 together and made plans for our next weekend date! Hopefully we will be able to surf and bake a bunch of fattening goodies.

Weekends like this really let me value my friends and realize importance of spending time with good people.
Being able to stay up late with Emmy, snacking on random cookies, seaweed, and digestive wheat crackers (trust me, they taste absolutely amazing), just to keep us awake while we talked all night until the early hours of the morning was great.
Painting our nails for hours, singing along to music, critiquing singers for foibles in their voices, and not being able to wake up from staying up so late…priceless.

It lets me step back and realize how blessed I am with my friends.

Thank you Emmy for letting me stay at your house this weekend.

You are an amazing girl. Never change.

Time To Get Fit!

It’s that time of the year, that time when I push my body to the point of exhaustion in the gym on a daily basis in order to achieve a nice fit look for summer. Time to hit the weights and jump that rope, eat less junk and run like a mad man.

I had the pleasure of being trained by one of the most incredible people and amazing personal trainers I have ever met this last summer.

Yes that is him, he has modeled for various companies and contrary to what most people believe he has never done any steroids or any kind of enhancing to get his body to where it is today. His name is Modu Seye, he was born in West Africa and his way of being and view on life and health is what keeps ME Moduvated.

He started his own company called Moduvated (clever right?! haha) a couple years ago and has gone as far as creating his own protein called Moduvated Greentine!

Aside from being an amazing personal trainer, Modu is also one of the most thoughtful human beings in this world.

So I’m writing this blog to say thank you to him and encourage everyone else out there in reading my blog to get out and work out every day for a little bit and care about themselves and their health.

Coca Cola!

I have always been and always will be a Coke fan. It is in my opinion a thousand times better than Pepsi, not only in taste but also in marketing and the company all around.

Coca Cola is the main sponsor for the Olympic Game, as well as a world wide known brand. Coca Cola is a brand that is known to put a smile on some one face.

Coke has always had some of the greatest banners and adds to represent their product. The older ones are amazing, and they show us that coke has been around for quite a while. As well as their christmas adds.

The bottles have changed quite a bit since the 1899, and to be honest I wish they looked the way they used to look.

Something awesome that I found was that Coke used to have Coca Cola coupons that entitled you to a free glass of Coke! that is so cool, its too bad that some things have changed.

For some, Coca Cola has been a part of their lives for the entire duration and for others it has never been introduced, but when it is introduced it is known to be loved.

So Im definitely a Coke guy. What are you?

You better sleep!

In order to stay in shape and not get ill, it is extremely important to sleep. When I saw this headline, I was like, “well duh, sleeping is important. I know that.” But as I read into this interesting research outcome, I found very interesting facts so you better read through this!

Research shows that people who sleep 7 to 8 hours a day have the lowest obesity index than anyone else. Compared to people who get 5 hours of sleep, their obesity index is 50% lower, and for those of you who get 4 hours of sleep, 75% lower. That means, the less you sleep, the higher the tendency to get obese.

But why? The reason is because of the unbalance of the hormones reptine and ghrelin. Reptine is the hormone produced by fat cells that controls your appetite, and ghrelin produced by your stomach increases your appetite. So, if you don’t get enough sleep, reptine will decrease and ghrelin will decrease. People who get 5 hours of sleep compared to 8 hours of sleep, they have 16% less of reptine and 15% more of ghrelin, which means it, increases your appetite and prefer higher calorie foods.

Lack of sleep is one of the biggest enemies to a diet, but it’s not too late. After a reducing sleeping experiment, the examinees took 10 hours of sleep for two days and the hormone balance got back to normal. Also, the rate of craving food got 25% lower.

So sleep well to stay in shape.

What Holds Me Together

High above, amongst the stars,

God checked his watch,

and realized it was time.

Time to make a story,

my story,

mine.

He wove together a string of trinkets,

some rusty,

some silver,

some gold,

and some of precious stones.

Of those trinkets,

there were many places.

Houses and apartments,

studios

and condominiums.

Restaurants, schools, corners and alleys.

There was a bit of Mexico.

Koreatown, too.

Some wormy grass,

and golf courses where the deer roamed at night.

And of course,

tied closely to these homes,

was my mother’s cooking,

my father’s laughter,

my sister’s pranks.

And there were my fears.

My anxieties,

all intertwined with my passions,

my soul,

and whatever else that stirs me and moves me and lifts me..

My friends and enemies,

my lovers and ex-boyfriends.

Teachers, mentors, coaches, neighbors.

Mailmen, taxi drivers, pilots, a Marine.

There was much joy.

But,

there were also tears and hardship,

loneliness and strife.

Yelling and screaming,

punching and throwing.

The threads mangled and fried.

But soon enough,

God, with his knowing hands,

his fingers so gentle,

created a piece.

And those loose threads,

they all straighten out to create

one magnificent picture.

One that is unique.

One that is me.

mine.

Pure love

When I had the first meal of after being sick, white rice, I thought I was in heaven. I was like, “Thank you for letting me eat. Thank you so much.” That was one of the happiest moments in a long time.

I wasn’t feeling well since last Wednesday. My stomach was acting weird. I thought I was just tired so I ignored what it was telling me.

But finally, the pain really broke out this Monday. During lunch that day, I didn’t want to eat anything but I ate because I had to. But about half an hour later I started to feel nauseated and threw up all I had eaten. I usually never throw up. I hadn’t have thrown up since like 1st grade, so I realized that this virus is a really strong one. That night, I had a high fever. I tried to get changed, but I had no energy in me. I lost 5 pounds in 2 days and felt like a skeleton. I looked at myself in a mirror. It was disgusting.

On Thursday, my stomach finally let some food in. I ate impulsively. I was way too hungry. I couldn’t have been any happier. But I ate too much that I got nauseous again…

But, I’m getting better and better.

I once again realized that I love eating. I missed eating so much.

Farmers Market

Every Sunday is the farmers market, most towns have these.  For me we have one within walking distance right in the harbor.  Except I never go.  Yesterday though, I went, and it was really nice.

It brought back memories from when I was younger and we would go every weekend to pick up our local produce.  These days though it has changed quite a bit, it has grown about twice as big and has more than just produce.

The entire front section is now devoted to street vendors selling  homemade wares and kettle korn stalls.

In the central area there is now a live band every sunday, an espresso bar and you can go down to the wharf to buy fresh fish the fishermen caught just that morning.

It was really nice to finally go back to the farmers market after its been almost a year since last I went.

Fat Sundays with Tom Cruise

Huddled together.

Light cutting the darkness like blades

through the spaces between the blinds.

Our heads come closer to the screen,

our limbs intertwined.

A mess of blankets and

the overwhelming scent of Chinese food.

Golden Moon did it again.

Our stomachs are aching

but, we don’t mind.

Tom Cruise is almost dead,

Julia with a gun in her hand.

HE’S ALIVE!

We all let out a sigh of relief,

our hands let go of each others.

This is a good Sunday afternoon.

Surrounded by my friends,

just being fat and lazy.

I am so happy.

This is happiness.

“Friendship is a special kind of love.”

Starbucks, another location!!!!

Starbucks, YUM. Nothing better than expensive premium coffee. I wonder sometimes what compels people to pay ridiculous prices for Starbucks coffee. It may be the brand, the taste, or perhaps even the location. Starbucks currently owns and operates 18,887 stores in 55 countries, with these amount of stores there are bound to be some in strange locations.

A location that comes to my mind is the famed cargo container store. Located in Tukwila ,WA this store is fashioned out of four altered cargo containers. These containers include a 20 foot container and three 40 foot containers. The purpose of this particular location was to increase publicity and show that Starbucks is dedicated to being eco- friendly by recycling used materials.

According to a Starbucks spokes person this trend is becoming more prominent in the greater Seattle area and that Starbucks sought to appeal to the community.

New Years Resolutions

happy new years

On New Year‘s night I took a moment to come up with some good resolutions that I believe will improve my life. For once I want to live up to the resolutions that I decide to make.

For the year of 2012 the first thing I would like to do is develop a more effective way of saving money. I feel that this is a very important element to growing up as well as a good skill to possess as I head into college.

Secondly I would like to start to improve my health. The main things to improve it would definitely be eating healthier foods as well as exercising more often and at a higher rate.health and fitness

For my third and final resolution, I would like to enjoy the rest of my senior year at OVS with the girl who matters the most to me as well as with some of the greatest friends anyone could ever ask for or hope for, cough cough** Evan Cooper! then I would like to enjoy my upcoming summer, and take advantage of every opportunity presented to me for the rest of the year.

Happy 2012 everyone!
2012
LETS MAKE IT A GREAT YEAR!!!
