Relay for Life

As the school year comes to an end, OVS is taking part in one last community effort. Relay for Life of the Ojai Valley is less than a month away. The event will take place on May 31, and the campus is abuzz with fundraising efforts.

OVS has many cancer survivors amongst its faculty and within the families of the students. Last year, the school managed to raise about $10,000 because of this. For a school of about 100 students, this is a remarkable achievement.

So far, we have exceeded our goal of $1000 by $700. The students continue to join the effort of fundraising cancer research. When the day of the event is finally here, we will have students, faculty, and family members walking for 24 hours.

For such an important event, OVS is throwing their all into it. Though we are a small school, we can make a valiant effort. To help our effort, or join our team, click here.

Street Art

Street art is a form of visual art created in public locations, usually with particular styles and features. Such form of art originated in early 1980s and continues to be applied in subsequent incarnations. The street art includes stencil graffiti, wheatpasted poster art orsticker art, and street installation or sculptures.

Artists who choose the streets as their gallery usually embraces their preferences to communicate directly with the public at large and the world outside. Also, street artists sometimes present socially relevant content as a form of “art provocation.”

One of the most popular forms of street arts is graffiti, which is writing or drawings that have been scribbled, scratched, or sprayed illicitly on a wall or other surface, often in a public place. It ranges from simple written words to elaborate wall paintings, and it has existed since ancient times back to Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, and the Roman Empire.

Even though lots of street artists have risks of violating laws and destroying social orders, their passion of making art in a unique way still leads them to create a space that only belongs to them.

Up and down

frfrf

It begins with a white red blast.

Will the velocity ever last?

Takes much time to break that one rule.

Reaching for such heights makes one a fool.

Stage one is simple, there’s no doubt.

The engines come alive with a deafening shout.

Stage one the last barrier is broke.

The fire of human ingenuity is stoked.

Stage two the rocket leaves earth behind.

The view could only satisfy mankind.

Rockets to the Rescue

m,m

The future is here. Space X, headed by Elon Musk, has invented the first soft landing rocket in human history. Just what is a soft landing rocket you ask?

Traditionally space rockets have one use, all fuel is used up and the rockets attached to the spacecraft burn up in atmosphere or crash in the ocean. With a soft landing rocket the rocket will enter in a controlled descent through atmosphere and then safely land at its launch point intact. This will cut the cost of space travel by seventy percent. Instead if costing fifty million dollars to launch a rocket, that same rocket would only cost seven million dollars

This is one of the most significant inventions the world has seen it will revolutionize space travel and human history.

The False Shepherd

mn,,
Little Bo Peep, fat little sheep was once white as snow.

How it would, no one knew, and few could answer so.

Once it follow the shepherd whom guided it true.

Though need shear, the shepherd was told to shoo.

The sheep grow grotesque blackened by the time.

The shepherd still remembered when the sheep shined.

Eating fresh grass the sheep grazed lazily.

Would the wolf hunt it first one would wait and see.

Fierce and quick the wolf gobbled the once pure sheep.

Watching quietly the shepherd never spoke a peep.
