The Tea Party

A new CNN poll shows that 53% of Americans think poorly of the Tea Party and 28% hold “favorable views.” CNN said these were the most extreme numbers they had polled on the opinions of the Tea Party.

This is shocking to me. How can 28% of Americans support the Tea baggers? I know there are some ignorant and gullible people out there, but really? The Tea Party represents so much of what is wrong with America today and it infuriates me.

“We are taxed enough already!” Oh, are you? Because from where I am sitting we are not taxed enough. Our public school systems are tanking, we are cutting public programs like they are going out of style and on top of it all, we have a 3 trillion+ deficit.

You think that we can solve all of this by just cutting spending? Well it hasn’t worked in the past but why not waste our time again. You think boycotting the Census and having rallies that encourage citizens to not report their yearly income is helping? If you do, sorry to break it to you, but you are irrational.

I don’t find radicalism to be helpful or progressive in any form. In the manner that I am writing this blog, one might think that I am a radical Liberal. But that is far from the truth. I do not think that big government is always a good idea and I think that at times we are too Liberal in our Judicial policy.

Despite that, I find the Tea Party to be repulsive. I see it almost like I see angsty teens; using shock value and going against the grain to get attention. On that note, they should be treated like angsty teens, with that opinion of “When you grow up, you will see that you are wrong. This is just a stage.”

Unfortunately, most of the members of the Tea Party will not grow up. They will keep up with their radical ways, spreading hate and ignorance throughout the world with a little help from Fox News. All I can hope is that the rest of America wakes up and discourages the ridiculousness that is the Tea Party.

Nutella Vs. Peanut butter

nutella vs PB

I like peanut butter but I LOVE Nutella. I’ve always been a fan of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches; they are good and you can never go wrong with a PB&J. Unless you’re allergic to peanuts, yikes. But see, Nutella is delicious, sure there is some things much like peanut butter that could be harmful to some but it’s just so good that even those who don’t like it actually really do.

Its taste is AMAZING, and there is so many tasty ways to eat it.

Nutella with bread, Nutella crepes, Nutella croissants, Nutella with strawberries, Nutella with bananas and MANY MORE!!!!

I really want to know what everyone’s thoughts are on this subject, even if you feel it’s a stupid one

I think Nutella wins, what do you think?

Nerd Rant, Part V

Oh my goodness, another Nerd Rant?
I am so nerdy this week!

So, I’ve heard people talk about this “amazing” television show that is borderline a “cult classic” and I finally built up the nerve to watch it.

And ohmygoodness it is utterly fabulous.

The television show is the very amazing and very awesome Doctor Who.

No, originally, the show started back in the fifties. But it was brought back in 2005 and blew up! There have been six new seasons in the 21st century, three different Doctors (the ninth, the tenth, and the eleventh), one TARDIS, and hundreds of science fictiony adventures.

It. Rocks.

I’m totally geeking out because I’m pretty much in love with the idea of a Time Lord running amok in his time and space traveling police call box saving the world again and again and again from Daleks and Cybermen and The Void.

It just seems magnificent.

I’m kind of obsessed.

And it’s the type of show where either you completely love it or completely hate it.

So go nuts.

Watch an episode (or twelve).

I hope you get sucked in.

I did.

Terra Nova

I love anything Sci-Fi.  Saying this I have been ecstatic with the premiere of a brand new TV show on Fox.  Titled Terra Nova it combines the ferocity of the prehistoric earth with the ingenuity of humans 85 million years in the future.

In the world of Terra Nova the human race has destroyed the earths environments leaving it a barren, industrial waste on its last breath of life. Yet for the Shannon family there is another chance.  Being selected to embark on the 10th pilgrimage through a newly discovered time portal to an alternate universe begins the adventure of a lifetime.

Coming out on the other side the family steps into a world governed by nature.  With roaring dinosaurs and bizarre foliage, the family of five question if they made the right choice.  With joy and optimism they step into the settlement of Terra Nova but soon realize the truth: it wont be easy.

The SAT

Today I took the SAT for the second time.  I took it once before last year. I, like most first time takers of the test did not do nearly as well as I would have liked to.  So for the second time I devoted about five hours of my saturday to taking a ten sectioned test that tests reading math and writing.

I will say it is probably one of the hardest tests I have ever taken and even will take.  The questions are misleading and the constant jump between subjects make it long and arduous.

Although it seems impossible to tell how I did on it without seeing my scores, I feel I may have done better than my previous attempt, I guess all I can do is wait and see if I’ll be going to college or not when I get my results.

Altitude training in Peru

10000 ft high up, I ran hard.

The program offers an opportunity to high school runners all over the country for community service and altitude training every summer to Peru and Kenya. I was one of the lucky ones to go.

When I flew into Cusco (where I stayed for 3 weeks) from Lima (capital of Peru), as soon as the plane landed, I felt the thinness of the air. My lungs couldn’t get enough oxygen and the heart rate was so high. I thought to myself, I am going to stay here for 3 weeks… How am I going to survive? I’m at 10,000ft high. I didn’t have my oxygen inhaler, so all I could do was to get used to it.

On the first day of altitude training, we ran 30 minutes which supposed to be nice and slow, but somehow for the last mile, the pace went up to 6:30 minute mile. I was dying…

On the second week, I started to work out on track. I felt really fast, because the air is thin but the burden on my lungs killed me. My legs are moving really well but I felt like someone was pressing on my chest. I was dying… But the pain felt good after all. I really can’t wait for track season to start although its like… 5 months away.

Well, three weeks of high altitude training ended and I got back home. I went for a run on the next day, and… OH MY GOSH I felt nothing. I did a 6 mile race pace and I literally felt nothing, and wasn’t out of breath at all. It was just so amazing. BUT…it only lasted for 5 days… and those were the best 5 days of my life.

Next year, I’m planning to go to Kenya. A lot of my friends went there last year and met world record holders and world champions in running. Gosh, I can’t wait. But I also would love to go back to Peru and stay little bit longer than last time.

I want to write a lot more about Peru, but I have too much thing to say.

MUCHOOO LOVE PERU.

Typhoon 12

According to Yahoo Japan, typhoon 12 hit Japan on the 2nd of September and hasn’t moved away yet. It has been a month…

The death toll from the typhoon reached seventy-four. Moreover, in the Nara-Prefecture, 20 people are missing, a landslide occurred at 17 places, and 623 people are now living in evacuation shelters.

That’s it. That huge whirlpool is covering Japan.

The government official says it would be very hard to recover from this disaster.

Japan has been dealing with misfortunes this year. Since the country is an island, disaster never ceases. Obviously, there’s nothing to do but to prepare whatever strikes next.

The Outrigger Keauhou Beach Resort: Kailua-Kona

Some people go to Hawaii to tan, relax, and drink piña coladas on the beach. Not my family.  We probably spend equal amounts of time in and out of the water.  Hawaii itself is very important to us.  My parents lived in Haena on Kauai before they adopted me.  The first vacation I remember in Kauai.  My twins sisters learned to swim in Kona and I got my dive certification there, July 2007.

Front of the Outrigger Keauhou Beach Resort, Kailua-Kona

Years ago my mom found this beautiful little hotel  and she and my dad went snorkeling there.  She remembered it and booked us a room at  Outrigger Keauhou Beach Resort in Kailua-Kona, October of 2003. It’s this GORGEOUS, amazing hotel right on Keauhou Bay.  There is a small snorkeling beach, as well as a little set of stairs that lead directly into the water.  The hotel includes deluxe ocean-view rooms, excellent free daily breakfast for guests, and an incredible seaside restaurant with the most spectacular view of the sunset in all of Hawaii.

A taste of India.

Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal, one of the seven great wonders of the world, one of the glories of India. A tourist trap, but also a sacred site for many its white exterior shimmers serenely under fluorescent spotlights. Standing tall, superior and spectacular in the light of the Taj Cafe, the pure exquisiteness of this wall hanging capturing my attention and transporting me to the bustling streets of India.

This sanctuary displays a snippet of a different culture from across the globe. Acting as a place or spot where one can be transported to another land without actually travelling very far. The Taj Cafe, Ventura is the perfect place to do just this.

The traditional food, exquisitely furnished room and the unique sounds of the traditional song come together to give one a small taste of India. The ambience of the restaurant represents this eastern culture perfectly in the streets of California.

If you want an eastern experience from the comfort of your own city why not take a trip to your local Indian restaurant. Take the opportunity to inhale the aromatic scents of the spiritual motherland and experience a unique journey of your own.

MTV or SH*T TV?

MTV

MTV stands for Music Television, or should I say stood for that. This tv channel which at once point used to be music videos all day every day has become the main channel for stupid “reality” tv shows. Teen Mom 2, 16 and pregnant, Jersey Shore, and many others are all examples of what shouldn’t be on MTV, some of them shouldn’t even be shows, Teen mom and 16 and pregnant. Others though like Jersey Shore I don’t mind, but I still believe they should be shown on a different channel.

I wonder why there is a need to have bad TV shows on a channel that was designed for the viewers to watch music videos and music related things. It really bothers me. I hate that the only time to watch music videos is from about 3 am to about 5 am, when most people are sleeping.

I know that times are changing and things will never be the same, but the least we could do is use this channel which was designed specifically for music for that exactly, and put all the musically unrelated TV shows on a separate channel.
