So, much like a fellow writer, I too took a trip to Disneyland this past weekend.
It has been about a year since I had been to Disneyland, and I was glad I got the chance to go.
We left Ojai early in the morning in the pouring rain.
When we got to Disneyland it was cloudy, but not quite cold enough to wear a jacket around so I ended up carrying mine most of the day.
I spent the whole day hoping it would get cold so that I could put on my jacket and stop holding it.
So when we got the park I was with two very close friends of mine, Sarah and Cameron.
We took this trip to celebrate Sarah’s mother’s birthday.
When we got the the park her parents split off from us and another friend met us at the park.
We walked around for a bit and then Gavin, Sarah’s brother, met us to surprise his mom for her birthday.
The surprise ended up working perfectly.
Originally he was going to hide in the back of the car the whole way down to Disneyland, but we figured that wouldn’t work too well.
Then the idea came to have him meet us inside a restaurant when his mom’s back was turned.
When we got to the restaurant we had Gavin hide around the corner for a bit until we could signal him to come in.
The perfect plan unfolded where Sarah and her mom were having their picture taken, and we told Gavin to come up behind and photo bomb the picture.
Her step father John took a few pictures just to waste time until Gavin got there.
He finally got there and when John was revealing the picture he zoomed into Gavin’s face.
Now remember his mother had no idea that he was there and stared at the picture with utter confusion.
When she finally realized she turned around, let out a shriek, and jumped up crying to hug her son who she had not seen for over a month.
We went on to ride all the rides and have fun in the happiest place on earth.
As it started to get later we hopped parks and went over to California Adventure.
The sun started to go down and then it gold colder.
Finally I could put my jacket on.
We waited in line forever to go on Soarin California, it is a fun ride, but it’s also a nice place to sit down and relax while soaring over the best state ever.
The rain was down to a light drizzle so we headed over to California Screamin’ as it started to rain again.
When we got there, due to the rain I assume, there was no line.
We got right on which never happens, it was super awesome.
Next we got on Mickey’s Fun Wheel, which turned out to be probably the funniest moment of the day.
Gavin, who is rather large and macho, loves roller coasters, plays football, and par takes in other manly things, acted as what some would call a little girl when we got on the ride.
For those of you who don’t know Mickey’s Fun Wheel is a ferris wheel that goes over the pier in California Adventure and over the water, and if you choose to do so the cars slide back and forth on a track while in mid air.
Gavin didn’t like this at all.
He screamed and shrieked as I tried to rock it even higher and faster just to worsen his experience.
I jumped back and forth from bench to bench as he screamed and the others laughed so hard they got six packs after.
After the rides we watched a spectacular fireworks show and headed home.
By far one of the best Disneyland experiences ever.
Thanks so much for taking me guys, let’s do it again soon.
