Mr. Noodles.

People do love food. After I came to OVS, i discovered that students do love noodles, I mean instant noodles, which can be cooked in short period of time, usually with good flavors.

Instant noodles are for “lazy” people mostly but to be honest, I personally regard them invention as a smart stuff and they indeed change our lives a lot. Then I did some research on the instant noodles and discovered more about them.

Instant noodle was invented by a Janpanese. In 1958, Momofuku Ando invented “CHICKEN RAMEN ™”, the world’s first instant noodle product. His achievement brought a revolution in culinary culture. In 1971, he developed “CUP NOODLE ®”, the world’s first cup-type noodle product. In the editorial in its January 9, 2007 edition, the New York Times expressed appreciation for the achievements of “Mr. Noodles,” who it said deserved an eternal place in the pantheon of human achievement.

“The technology of “CHICKEN RAMEN ™” developed by Momofuku in a humble shed behind his home involved rapidly drying noodles through flash-frying in oil.” This method became the basis for all instant noodle production.

Later, his revolutionary “CUP NOODLE ®” concept in which a single container serves as packaging, cooking vessel and serving dish was the basis for cup-type instant noodles.

Nowadays, the instant noodles have numerous types from different countries. Even though hey are not really healthy, they can be fairly helpful and save your life when you are lazy to cook and when you want to try something different.

Colleges start with ME.

As my junior year is coming to an end, my English class recently began to focus on the college stuff.

Ms. Boismenue came to my English class yesterday to introduce all of us a scary thing called “college essay.” Although I’ve heard how important it is for the application process of colleges, I could still feel the power of it which made me feel nervous and of course, stressful.

However, as Ms.Boismenue and our English teacher Ms.Wilson explained to us more details about the process, I felt it was the most important process but also the most interesting part of the colleges applications.

Ms.Boismenue then handed to us a list of some traditional and creative essay topics from some colleges the past few years, and asked us to actually pick one of them and plan to write. There were about ten topics and this one caught me eyes – “It has been said in the future everyone will be famous for fifteen minutes. Describe your fifteen minutes. ” (from NYU, 2007)

We were told that for all the college essays, they want to know a real “YOU” from your writing which shows them how their school fits you the most and why you are different from other numerous applicants.

Senior Aria in Editor Chief…

Aria Ellett.

What words can be said that define how amazing she is.

Is it the smile, maybe.

Is it the hair, maybe.

But no, I think it is just who she is.

An amazing person who you can text at any time and she will always be there.

Mess up with your timing of a blog, Aria’s got your back.

Yea, she might yell at you through her words at first, but then she realized,

Wow, Keaton is almost as great as I am.

I can’t believe she will be leaving us as Senior Editor in Chief Arno Elleteeteetteteeeeetlllleltlellele, theres some correct amount of Es and Ls and Ts, make something out of it, but above all else she will be missed.

Her sassyness in and out of the classroom.

Her laugh snort that I have kept track of all year,

What else can be said but,

You look great.

Isolation

Isolation is a theme that I address in a lot of my short stories and poems. I think the way a person deals with the feeling that they are separated from the rest of society creates a unique look into a person’s mind. It creates a more real perspective.

Isolation is an interesting concept in the age where we have people living for months at a time in space. Six people can live thousands of miles away from their home on the planet, but survive for months.

Space and the deep sea create interesting locations for stories, and the exploration poses serious questions about the sanity of the human mind.

Kanye West’s New Music

Kanye west performed on saturday night live this week, and the only way I can describe it is… Interesting. He has changed his sound to a darker more industrial style which channels the Death Grips, and It works within that style.

My only problem is that I feel like the music is much too serious. He looks like he’s having no fun. I miss the soul-sampling Kanye from his early years. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was a Masterpiece and a fantastic summation of Kanye’s style, this new album seems as though he is changing his style too much and too fast. His songs “New Slaves” and “Black Skinhead” both have titles that will stir up controversy, and I think he wants them too.

His debut of the “New Slaves” video, which he projected on 66 walls across the world was incredibly cool, and is a testament to his marketing creativity.

Pokemon

There’s a lot of different sides to me. There’s the Eagle-fanatic side that just loves the NFL and his Eagles. There’s the Honey Badger, my deranged, athlete side who simply has no regard for his own or anyone else’s well being. That side is also known as my “power trip”. And then, there’s my nerd side.

I am a bit of a nerd. I am an absolute Star Wars addict. I could look at a picture of a character, and probably give you a solid name and specific event that occurred in that character’s theatrical life.

But, as into Star Wars as I am, I’m a huge video game freak. My favorite franchise is the Super Smash Brothers series made famous by those awesome people at Nintendo. But there’s always been a very close second.

That would be the Nintendo-produced Pokemon franchise. Everyone knows about Pikachu, but I know about the other 600. It’s a whole world that I just love to immerse myself in from time to time. In fact, over the weekend, I went out and purchased one of the newest installments in the franchise, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon.

I just realized how lame that actually sounds, but the game is once again very entertaining and thoroughly enjoyable.

Patroling Dawn

Clocks buzz and dawn breaks,

The child was not awake.

The child picked him up and took him far,

Down the street and into the car.

It drove down a meaty hill,

It did not have much time to kill.

Boards retrieved and no one forgotten,

Luckily the weather was not rotten.

A beach destination appeared in sight,

The sun was quite bright.

Children went in and boarded in the waves,

A wonderful start to a new day.

Cold and ice conquered the fun,

A surfing day had come undone.

It’s a Whole New Year

Most people measure their years beginning and ending at New Year’s Eve. But when you’re in school, Summer marks the beginning of a new year. You have three months off, to relax, sleep, recuperate from the endless studies and homework. Then in the fall, you go back to school and you start a new year.

Some people never want the year to end. They want to stay near their friends, and they don’t want things to change.

For me, it’s different.

At the beginning of every year I’m excited for what it will bring. For the new friends I will make, and the new things that I’ll learn. But a couple months in, I start getting tired. Tired of school, and of a lot of the people at school.

When A Sphere Flies

Flying, the sphere sails across the sky.

It looks like a bird, majestic always on the lookout for prey.

Falling now, it hits the ground caught up in the trap of man.

Men do battle for it.

They hit in clash all for this one bird.

The battle is settled only when the bird flies away.

Like all living creatures it wishes to be free.

Not the plaything of humans who would go to war.

The bird does not even know what war is.

All it knows is when it is free and when it is a slave.

One-Piece.

One Piece (ワンピース) is a Japanese shōnen manga series written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. The first volume was released on December 24, 1997, and the 69th volume released in March 2013.

One Piece follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy, a young man whose body gains the properties of rubber after unintentionally eating a Devil Fruit, and his diverse crew of pirates, named the Straw Hat Pirates. Luffy explores the ocean in search of the world’s ultimate treasure known as One Piece in order to become the next Pirate King.

Additionally, Toei has developed eleven animated feature films, an OVA, and five television specials. Several companies have developed various types of merchandising such as a trading card game, and a large number of video games.

In 2008, One Piece became the highest-circulating manga series. And until now, it is still one of the most popular animes throughout the whole world.

I started watching One-Piece three years ago. First i was only captured by the colorful style of the drawing of the characters and the scenes of the ocean. However, as more i watched, I found out a more profound meaning of this anime, which is friendship and ambition.

For several times I was touched deeply by the friendship between Luffy’s team. They laugh and fight together for their goal and they would do everything for each other, even losing their lives. The passion and love among them gives them courage and helps them to achieve their dreams.

The story is still going on but I think I already know the ending that they will stand by each other forever.
