America

America. Oh America. You are such a great country, but less can be said about the people that inhabit you. Americans have proven themselves to be some of the stupidest people on the planet. I can’t even imagine what other countries think about you when people like Palin and Trump are even considered to be in positions of power.

Part of your problem, America, is that you are so cocky. Why do you allow yourself to think that you are the best country on the planet? Every other politician has to make some stupid comment about the greatness of you, or how you are the best country on the planet. I have news for you America, you are not.

Take a seat America, this could take a long time.

Great countries do not torture people, America. They do not set up secret camps just for the sake of humiliation and torture of another race.

Great countries do not ward off immigrants, America. They do not send poor children with no where else to go back to their country. They do not waste money on foreboding walls to surround their country.

Great countries do not ignore the environment, America. And by the  way, a Hummer is not a symbol of intelligence or masculinity.

Great countries do not allow for CEOs of major companies to be paid in millions per year when others do not have enough to eat.

Great countries do not deep fry the twinkie.

Great countries do not disregard the foundations on which their countries were built upon.

Great countries allow ALL people to be free, and not just some.

Great countries have respect for other countries.

And finally, great countries do not think of themselves so highly. They are humble and recognize other countries as being great as well. They do not put down nations for having religions that are just as stupid as their own. And they do not hate others for liking soccer. Ok, never mind, soccer is pretty lame.

  1. While your cartoon is probably not too far off what many people think, and some of the above points have some validity, still many things above are simply a matter of belief – not intelligence. For example, “Great countries do not allow for CEOs of major companies to be paid in millions per year when others do not have enough to eat.” If you would pay your CEO’s the same an the average worker, why would they perform at a higher level and be expected to carry more responsibility? FACT: All people are NOT created equal. I cannot draw a person or animal to save my life, but I can sing. I am not really exceptional with numbers, but am rather exceptional with words. True, the pay scales are not necessarily according to duty or workload, but shouldn’t each business have the right to determine their own fiscal policies? Which other do not have enough to eat? Are they employed? Are they capable of employment?

“Great countries do not ward off immigrants, America. They do not send poor children with no where else to go back to their country. They do not waste money on foreboding walls to surround their country.” You believe we should have a 100% open-door policy to anyone who wants to come here? I do not. I do think anyone here who wishes to stay should be able to become a citizen, go through the established steps to do so, and celebrate America while maintaining their own ethnicity and culture within their home, if they choose.

ENGLISH is the spoken language of America and should be taught and learned by ALL wishing to remain here. Our education system fails in many respects, particularly when compared with India and China, but multi-lingual policies are folly!

I do agree, however, that there is an elitist arrogance about many Americans – starting at the top with the President!

    • America is a country founded on the basis of freedom. I do not beleive that people should be able to come here who are not able to contribute (Taxes) but who are we to pick and choose who comes as long as they are law abiding poeple? Don’t forget that at some point in time, your family were immigrants. The constitution has not changed the American government’s stance on the legallity of immigation. Why don’t we learn from the people who speak other languages? Polyglots have increased brain activity from the stimulation of speaking many languages. America has NO official language. There is no law that says that English must be spoken in schools. Unfortunately many people worry about having children learn Spanish because they themselves do not speak it. Instead of fearing change we should just evolve.
